DESCRIPTION Date: 18 April 2021 Location: Ratnagiri, Maharashtra A massive fire broke out in a chemical company in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district on Sunday at around 9:30 a.m. in the unit located in Lote MIDC area. It is suspected that the blaze erupted after a blast in the unit. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. The fire brigade and local police reached the spot and fire was brought under control after two hours.

Date: 28 April 2021 Location: Kathua, J&K An explosion occurred inside a chemical factory in J&K’s Kathua District on Wednesday. The fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire and to find out whether anybody else was inside the factory at the time of explosion. The cause of the explosion could not be ascertained till the time of reporting. Date: 02 May 2021 Location: Qom, Iran A chemical factory near the central city of Qom caught fire on Sunday. Heavy black smoke rising from Movaledan chemical factory in the vicinity of Qom, one of the Iran’s prominent religious cities, was observed. Twenty fire engine and 150 fire fighters were dispatched to the site. The fire fighters managed to stop the fire from reaching alcohol tanks although there were several explosions and two fire engines caught fire. The cause of the incident was not immediately known. Date: 05 May 2021 Location: Lucknow, UP A blast occurred after and oxygen cylinder burst at and oxygen gas refilling station located on Dewa road in Chinhat police station area of Lucknow on Wednesday at around 2:45 p.m. The blast caused panic and stampede among people standing in the queue for getting their cylinders refilled. The bodies were ripped apart due to the impact of the blast. The injured were admitted to nearby hospital and were out of danger. Prime facia, it appeared that the cylinder for refilling was faulty, causing the blast. Date: 8 May 2021 Location: Thane, Maharashtra A major fire broke out at Jain & Jain MEKP Chemical factory in Morivali MIDC area of Ambernath on Saturday at around 12:30 a.m. Three fire vehicles from Ulhasnagar and MIDC area were used along with several water tankers to control the fire. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained till the time of reporting. Date: 11 May 2021 Location: Fukushima, Japan An explosion rocked a chemical factory in north-eastern Japan on Tuesday. The blast at Sakai Chemical Industry Co’s Yumoto factory in Iwaki occurred at around 7:45 a.m. At the time of explosion 18 employees were working at the factory. Sounds of explosion could be heard on and off and white smoke emanating from the factory was observed. Date: 13 May 2021 Location: Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu A major industrial mishap occurred in a reactor vessel blast at a pesticide manufacturing industry in Kudikadu in SIPCOT Industrial estate in Cuddalore. The blast took place at one of the reactor vessels in Crimsun Organics at around 7:45 a.m. About 15 workers working there were trapped inside. Fire tenders were pressed into service to carry out the rescue work by the fire and rescue services personnel. Due to deafening sound and thick smoke emanating from the unit, panic gripped the people of surrounding villages who came out of their houses. An enquiry has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the blast. DAMAGE / INJURY RECORD Three people who were inside the unit, died on the spot while eight others sustained serious injuries. The injured persons were admitted to state-run hospital in Chiplun and other medical facilities nearby.

Four persons were injured in the blast. Among the four injured, three suffered burns and the fourth sustained a minor injury.
