‘A cinematic sense of space, Kenny Wheeler-like melodies over pattering electronic percussion’ (The Guardian): Monocled Man’s music has strong influences from ambient electronica but is rooted in jazz. Guest vocalists Emilia Martensson and Ed Begley join band members from Troyka, Kairos 4tet and leader Rory Simmons to bring to life music from the new album on Whirlwind Records.
Kandace Springs stunned Cheltenham audiences with her ‘intimate, low-key jazz-infused approach’ (MOJO) after opening for Jamie Cullum at last year’s Festival. The Nashville-based singer, songwriter and pianist counts Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Roberta Flack and Norah Jones among her heroes, yet her stripped-back sound on her debut Blue Note album mimics none.

A legend of Colombian music and winner of a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Totó la Momposina became a global star via Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records and went on to influence artists from Manu Chao to Timbaland. In this rare UK appearance, the trance-like grooves of her tambores (drums) and the majesty of her voice continue to be irresistible.
