Better buses a focus at new station Exhibition of the SRL East Environment Effects Statement is coming soon. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is finalising an Environment Effects Statement (EES) and draft Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA) for Suburban Rail Loop East from Cheltenham to Box Hill (the Project). The EES will examine the potential impacts the Project could have on the environment and identifies how the Project plans to avoid, reduce and manage those impacts. A digital EES is being prepared, designed to make it as simple as possible to understand the impacts of the Project. The EES will include Technical Reports, a Map Book, Summary Report and a draft Planning Scheme Amendment. The EES and draft PSA is expected to be on public exhibition in late 2021. During this time, members of the public can view the EES and draft PSA and make written submissions. More information on how to make a submission will be available once the exhibition period commences. Following public exhibition, the written submissions, the EES and draft PSA will be reviewed by an independent Inquiry and Advisory Committee (IAC) appointed by the Minister for Planning to consider the environmental effects of the project. After the exhibition period, the IAC will hold a Directions Hearing on Friday 28 January 2022 and public hearings from 28 February 2022 through to the end of April 2022 to hear from SRLA and submitters. The public submission process is independently managed by Planning Panels Victoria. Submissions must be made using the Engage Victoria submissions page that will be advertised when exhibition is opened. Further information about the IAC hearing process will be made available once the exhibition period commences.
