Sebago probably didn’t name these handsome deck loafers after the S&S once owned by JFK, but the association does them no harm. Made of a “soft, yet thicker, resistant suede”, they feature a “leather sock lining” as well as “a fashionable vulcanized rubber outsole inspired by the historical ergonomic American high foxing boat shoe”, quite befitting a president, really. They’re part of a new summer range from Sebago.

This new double lilo is made by Oliver James, “creator of the world’s finest luxury upholstered pool floats”, who has been inspired by “iconic destinations such as the Hamptons and Los Angeles”. Clearly Oliver has yet to go sailing but surely even he would see the advantages of having one of these on board.

Whale art
Followers of the Rolex Fastnet Race will be familiar with the stunning photographs of Kurt Arrigo, who has now released a series of whale portraits after he went free-diving with a pod off Tonga. Kurt says: “The mother whale swam protectively alongside her curious calf and it was with her permission that I gently slid into the water, feeling vulnerable and exposed. On a single breath I approached the playful calf who seemed keen to interact as the mother watched closely. For thirty minutes I swam up to the surface for air, diving back down urgently, not wanting to waste a minute of this precious invitation, both myself and the whales curious to download all that we could about each other. Once the mother decided that playtime was over I watched them descend into the deep blue.” Each shot is available as a fine art print in various formats.

Boat tent
For owners of yachts, who like to spend the less inclement months of the year under a tarpaulin attempting DIY, this could be just the answer. One of a new range of mobile ‘workshop units’ from Machine Mart, waterproof and easily assembled with push-fit connecting rods. The biggest measures 40ft (12.20) LOA, 16ft (4.87m) beam and 14.5ft (4.39m) height. There is even a round roof to ensure rain runs off, something even the best attached tarpaulins never manage.
