We’re celebrating the return of all our multi-class regattas this summer! Following two years of Covid pandemic restrictions - with 2020 events cancelled and many favourites either still unable to go ahead or postponed in 2021 - we’re looking forward to a bumper season of regattas in 2022. BASS WEEK

30 July-7 August, Bassenthwaite SC, Bassenthwaite Lake, Cumbria OVERVIEW: Nine days of racing and partying in the beautiful Lake District, at the foot of Skiddaw and close to the town of Keswick. ULLSWATER YACHT CLUB HOLIDAY WEEK

8-12 August, Ullswater YC, Pooley Bridge, Cumbria OVERVIEW: A combination of racing, children’s activities, tuition, leisure sailing and family fun on and off the water, as well as daytime and evening entertainment and catering. A packed five-day programme includes a kids’ club and sailing lessons on a morning and racing on an afternoon with a prizegiving every day. 6-11 August, Junior & Youth Regatta; 21-26 August, Aldeburgh Regatta, Aldeburgh YC, Suffolk OVERVIEW: In its 125th year Aldeburgh YC’s regattas offer two weeks of racing on Suffolk’s beautiful rivers Alde and Ore, including the classic Round Havergate Island Race past the stunning RSPB reserve and Orford castle. Junior and Youth week sees more than 140 entries in Optimists, RS Teras and Fevas, ILCAs and a Handicap fleet, with racing for all levels of under 24-year-olds from beginners to national championship contenders. BURNHAM WEEK

27 August-3 September, Burnham on Crouch, Essex OVERVIEW: A friendly competitive regatta with a colourful mix of cruisers, day boats and dinghies. There is a class for everyone whether IRC, local handicap, new to racing or experienced. One design classes are a welcoming and friendly group. A variety of courses keeps interest piqued and the race committee listens to competitors ensuring that needs are met throughout. Family friendly with a full social calendar. 9-15 July, Burnham to Zeeland Delta, Holland and back to Burnham, Essex OVERVIEW: The legend that is EAORA Week is back by popular demand. Lots of prizes, lots of fun on and off the water. Do just the inshore series, if you want, with full-on racing or a gentlemen’s no-spinnaker class, with relaxed entry conditions. Saturday 9 July: Race from Burnham to Ostend (RORC East Coast Race) or Harwich to Ostend (Haven Combined Clubs Stroombank Race); 10 July: Race from Ostend to Breskens; 11-15 July: Five race series on the inland waters of the Zeeland Delta, visiting a different town each night, with welcoming yacht clubs, delightful bars and wide choice of restaurants; 16 July: Head home or start a cruising holiday in Holland. NORTH WEST NORFOLK WEEK

24-30 July, various locations along the north and west coast of Norfolk OVERVIEW: Competitive but fun family regatta week with close racing at a different venue every day. Organised by the North West Norfolk Sailing Association, visiting the sailing clubs of Snettisham Beach, Brancaster Staithe, Wells, Ouse Amateur, Blakeney, Overy Staithe and then back to Snettisham Beach. Nine races in total, with six to count, providing a good balance between sailing and holiday, with short tidal windows meaning there are no long postponements, so plenty of time for the family to spend on the beaches. Daily trophies, weekly trophies, lady and junior helm prizes - something for all sailors. INSIDER TIP: Be warned - it is extremely addictive! Most people having been once will return year after year. 21-26 August, Waveney & Oulton Broad YC, Oulton Broad, Suffolk OVERVIEW: Six days of racing for dinghies, keelboats and river cruisers. The dinghies are in fast and slow handicap fleets although ILCAs and Optimists will also have some class races. Squibs and local one designs (Waveneys, Broads and Yare & Bures) have class races, plus there are mixed keelboat races. There’s a busy social programme and some racing in the evenings. The 2022 IRC East Coast Championships runs 20-22 July as a separate series within the Ramsgate Week series. After a challenging day’s sailing between the North and South Forelands you’re a five minute walk from berth to the Royal Temple Yacht Club where you can relax whilst enjoying the renowned hospitality. Plymouth Dinghy Regatta 16-23 July, Royal Yacht Squadron/ Cowes Yacht Haven, Isle of Wight OVERVIEW: Organised by the British Classic Yacht Club and celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022. British Classic Week has been held every year since the America’s Cup Jubilee in 2001 and not only attracts entries from the UK but also regularly from across Europe, and in 2016 and 2017 from Australia and New Zealand. A wide entry of yachts from home and abroad is again expected, with a six-race series in the iconic waters of the Solent. COWES WEEK

30 July-5 August, Cowes, Isle of Wight OVERVIEW: Cowes Week stages up to 40 daily races for around 600 boats and is the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world. Thousands of competitors race during the week, ranging from Olympic and world class professionals to weekend sailors, and in excess of 100,000 spectators come to watch, enjoy the parties and live entertainment, and experience the unique atmosphere. Having run a successful regatta last year, despite Covid restrictions, the Cowes Week team are excited about plans for this year. The racing will follow a similar format with more starts off the Royal Yacht Squadron line and a roving committee vessel able to make best use of the conditions on the day. On shore, the event will continue its legendary and wide-ranging social programme, kicking off with the Cowes Week Opening Party on Saturday 30 July. MUDEFORD WEEK

10-14 August, Mudeford SC, Christchurch, Dorset OVERVIEW: A week of family racing and fun sailing at a sheltered safe location. The harbour is rarely more than chest-deep for adults and the sailing club is right on the edge of the race area, giving close-up views of the action. The event is not suitable for high-performance craft because of the depth limitations. Two fleets will be run with separate starts. A junior fleet will be raced. POOLE REGATTA

30 April-2 May, organised by the Combined Yacht Clubs of Poole, Dorset OVERVIEW: A broad fan base as one of the most accessible and welcoming UK regattas. Incorporating the RORC IRC Southern Area Championship, VPRS National Championship, 2.4mR National Tidal Championship and Race 2 of the J70 Grand Slam Series. Altogether over 18 classes competing over three days - including Performance 40, Cape 31, HP30, the Quarter Ton Class, plus Sonata, J80, J24, XOD, Flying 15, Shrimper, Redwing and R19. Competitors will again be racing for one of the oldest trophies in yacht racing, the coveted Canford Cup dating from 1849, which pre-dates the America’s Cup ‘Auld Mug’ by two years. 18-19 June, Babbacombe Corinthian SC, St Marychurch, Torquay, Devon OVERVIEW: The 195th edition of this regatta will see racing in beautiful Babbacombe Bay. 6-13 August, Falmouth, Cornwall OVERVIEW: Seven days of varied racing for over 20 classes ranging from IRC yachts to dinghies. Beginning with a skippers’ briefi ng and reception at the Royal Cornwall YC on Saturday evening with the regatta then visiting Helford River SC (7th), Mylor YC (8th), Restronguet SC (9th), Royal Cornwall YC (11th), St Mawes SC (12th) and Flushing SC (13th) for the fi nal day along with the overall prizegiving. 29 July-1 August, Penzance SC, Albert Pier, Penzance, Cornwall OVERVIEW: PASAB is the club’s annual race that has been running since 1978. It is made up of three legs: Leg 1 on Friday night is the race to Scilly from Penzance; Leg 2 on Sunday is a race around the Islands (various courses dependent on conditions) and Leg 3 on Monday is the race back to Penzance. 200th PLYMOUTH JUBILEE DINGHY REGATTA

3-5 June, Port of Plymouth Sailing Association, Mount Batten Centre, Plymouth OVERVIEW: Celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and the 200th Plymouth Regatta, with mixed handicap racing and classes o ered for more than six boats.
