The designer and founder of global kids fashion week talks kids’ trends and me-time
So Mini Mode is my interpretation of what I felt was missing in the UK kids’ market for me as a designer. In February 2018 I launched the rst Mini Mode show, a new platform to showcase kids’ fashion during London Fashion Week. I’m currently on sabbatical with my brand Isossy so that I can focus fully on Mini Mode, which is very exciting. Tell us more about MIni Mode.
Mini Mode is a family
event – a chance for young fashionistas to be inspired by incredible designers from across the world, and an opportunity to discover brands and looks that you might have never come across otherwise. You’ll see international designer brands showcased by adorable mini models on the runway, alongside a selection of kids’ entertainment from talented young performers in between fashion shows. Tell us the story behind Mini Mode? Mini Mode was born out of my work with my own kids’ fashion brand, Isossy. I’m passionate about kids, how we dress them and how they reect us and our environments. Childrenswear is powerful; from premium brands and independent designers to fast fashion stores, which always seem to have their nger on the pulse because they reproduce so swiftly and on a larger scale.
MADPAX showcased its latest creative bags at the 2020 Mini Mode show

Describe a typical working day. I work for myself, so I wouldn’t say I have a typical working day, but I do set productivity goals to ensure my important work is achieved. e rest is all u.
How do you find a work-life balance? I usually start my day at the gym or enjoying a walk; I need that time to just focus on myself. I also like to do some meditation and a bit a reading if I can before launching into the emails. I work hard but also make sure I have time with my partner and family.
What childrenswear fashion trends have you seen emerge for 2020? Trends are always evolving, so slogans are still prevalent and social messaging is everywhere and very politicised. Brands are really pushing their identities to the forefront with logo strapping. Bolder colours and patterns are emerging, which I love. Flounces and bell sleeves are fabulously feminine. Equally, we’ve had some amazing quirky brands like BEBEBEBE, which brings its Korean sensibilities to the western market while Kicomo by Kiara’s bold aesthetic brings a fresh creative approach. I love bringing these expressive designs to the market.
What’s the best thing about your job? I love absolutely everything that I’m doing currently. It comes from my heart.
What’s in the pipeline for 2020? I know Mini Mode’s going to start with a bang, so I’m excited to see what unfolds and how close I’ll get to my vision for the show. L mini-mode.co.uk
