MOST INFLUENTIAL 2010

Kevin Flynn & Robby Robinson Co-Owners of EPIC Development Group, LLC

IN THE BEGINNING: Kevin (pictured left), who spent summers on Kiawah as a child, went on to graduate from the University of Virginia’s Architecture School and later earned his Master’s from UC Berkeley. Robby Robinson (pictured right) grew up on the beaches of Sullivan’s Island with eight brothers and sisters. After graduating from cabinet school, he became a carpenter apprentice before building his first home as a general contractor in 1983. ALL IN A DAY’S WORK: Kevin and Robby selectively build four to five homes each year on Kiawah Island, Johns Island, and in the surrounding Charleston area. OFF-THE-CLOCK: Kevin enjoys golf, running, and tennis in his free time, and is actively involved with the Library Society, American College of Building Arts, and South Carolina Aquarium. Robby has been a volunteer firefighter for Sullivan’s Island for 25 years, and is an avid fisherman and boater. FACTORS OF INFLUENCE: In 2003, Kevin teamed up with prominent Kiawah architects, Laplante Associates, and builder Robby Robinson to create a Kiawah Island home for his mother. Soon after, Kevin and Robby decided to form Epic Development. To date, the duo has left an indelible mark with the development of 26 acres of land into high-end residential real estate at the eco-friendly Preserve at Fenwick Plantation on Johns Island. Kevin and Robby are also helping to shape a field of builders and craftsman, as they created internships with the American College of the Building Arts to assist with the Preserve. On Kiawah, they are building the Cypress Point Cottages, 23 cottage style homes designed by Mitch Laplante.
