Chai’s Lounge, affiliated with Charleston’s beloved Thai restaurant Basil, is the perfect location for late-night dessert. The swanky atmosphere is reminiscent of an upscale, big city lounge, but the eastern, Zen décor gives it a serene, peaceful feel. Serving high-class desserts, as well as a complete gamut of drinks to accompany them, Chai’s is the ideal place to relax with friends in the evening. Try their “Sweet” collection of desserts, including a DoubleLayer Chocolate Cake, Fresh Fruit Pound Cake drizzled with a lavender honey compote, and Ginger Crème Brulee. If late-night sweets aren’t your cup of tea, Chai’s also offers a selection of “Savory” treats featuring a Charleston Tart with pimento cheese and crab in a cream cheese crust, as well as Tart Mykonos with spinach, feta, pistachios, golden raisins, and mint. Top it all off with a signature drink, such as their Chai Plum or a specialty coffee—you won’t be disappointed. Chai’s is located on 462 King Street downtown near Basil and is open daily from 5 pm until. Visit eatatchais.com for more information. Chai's Lounge, King Street

Sea Island Habitat for Humanity is jumping on the bandwagon of Habitat’s national program Cars for Homes. We’ve shopped their ReStore, we’ve volunteered to build homes for those in need, and we’ve given of our own resources to help with their deconstruction salvaging program. Now Sea Island Habitat is participating in the Cars for Homes program in which they are asking the community to donate their used cars, trucks, RVs, boats, and other vehicles. “Many times, used cars end up in a landfill or sitting idle, but donating a vehicle for recycling or reselling is a hassle-free and easy way for anyone to help support their local Habitat affiliate and help provide affordable housing within their own community,” says Marcia Rundle, director of Habitat’s Cars for Homes program. “On average, more than 50 percent of the vehicles we receive each year are recycled, so donating idle cars not only helps the community but also lets all of us be good stewards of our environment.” If you want to donate your car, or just find out more about the program, call (877) 277-4344 or visit carsforhomes.com.
