PALMETTO MOON ANTIQUES

Picking through antiques is one of the most enjoyable ways to spend a leisurely afternoon. Visiting Palmetto Moon Antiques is no exception. The showroom, which is actually a quaint cottage in Mt. Pleasant, feels lived-in and inviting; bits and baubles dot nearly every spare space. Another perk? They can take old, antique products and turn them into new furniture, lamps, or wall art. Owned and run by the mother-daughter duo of Dana Weil and Diane Schroder, Palmetto Moon Antiques is one of the area’s most beloved shopping spots. 1157 Chuck Dawley Boulevard, Mt. Pleasant (843) 856-1881

HOSTETLER CUSTOM CABINETRY

In 1981, upon wrapping up a two-year stint as a builder for one of the nation’s first Habitat for Humanity neighborhoods, Dale Hostetler decided to start his own cabinet company. Choosing Charleston as his home base, the cabinetmaker used his old green pickup truck as his workshop until he became more established. Today, Hostetler Custom Cabinetry is run by Dale and his son, Chris, and is known for a keen eye to detail and craftsmanship. Their work can be seen in custom homes all over Charleston and ranges from outdoor kitchens to specialized wine pantries. 445 Fleming Road, James Island (843) 795-0946 hostetlercustom.com
