s spring unfolds people in the Lowcountry dust off their golf carts for school pickups, cruising around the beach, and sunset rides along the Battery. But this year the eNVy Neighborhood Vehicle is taking Charleston by storm. The eNVy is a crossover vehicle, a mix between a utility terrain vehicle and a golf cart, making it durable, safe, and comfortable. At J.I. Small Engine Repair, founded by Paul Hume and Russell Jewell in 2017, they focus on selling equipment that ensures “best designed quality”. The 120 • CH+D • Spring 2021

two men started this business because they wanted to be the one-stop-shop where neighbors and friends knew they could buy trusted equipment that could be repaired in the same place. This year, they introduced the eNVy to their community. Paul says, “there’s no way to describe the vehicle without giving it a spin.” The vehicle has an easily adjustable steering wheel for people of different heights. Russell notes, “this really isn’t a golf cart—it has dual suspension, big tires, and power steering so it feels like something totally different.” The vehicle drives smoothly and has
