A nationwide EFTPOS outage that occurred during the auction meant the totting up of the proceeds took a little longer than expected but, by Tuesday, Tom was able to declare a healthy total. “The fish auction was well attended, and between it and the raffles we have raised $1500 for both the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter and the Nelson Coastguard.”
The final figures on the number of entries also looked good. “The weekend was a huge success, considering the poor weather on Sunday,” said Tom. “We had 279 fish entered across all categories – 165 adult and 114 junior.”
