At his Back to School Jam, DJ Kool Herc revolutionized music when he began to cut up the instrumental portions of funk and other popular dance songs to create the ‘break,’ the best part of the song to dance to. In the B-Boy Suite, we honor this legacy as well as the movements which led to the popularity of the genre.
