Bertling Law Group – A New Law Practice Opened by Peter Bertling Effective January 1, 2018, Peter Bertling opened a new law practice called Bertling Law Group. His office is at the same location where it has been for the past 17 years. His wife, Deborah Bertling, supports him in this new transition and Jemma Saunders has joined him at the new firm. Peter has worked with Jemma for many years and considers himself very lucky to have her as part of his team, which also includes a full-time paralegal. At his firm, Peter Bertling represents health care providers and Jemma builds the employment law practice. He is also dedicated to pursuing his work in other areas of the law that interest him.
Peter Bertling’s professional work experience During the time period of September 1987 - December 1995, Peter was an Associate. From January 1996 - April 1999, he was a shareholder with Bonne, Bridges, Mueller, and O’Keefe & Nichols. From April 1999 until August 2000, he was recruited by Baker, Manock & Jensen to open and serve as the Resident Partner in their Santa Barbara Office. Since August 2000, he has been the Founding Partner of Bertling & Clausen, L.L.P. Here, he represents health care providers in medical malpractice, medical board, and medical staff matters. In addition to this, Peter has extensive Federal Court experience handling class actions and damage claims brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1983 for violation of an inmate’s access to adequate medical and mental health treatment.
Peter Bertling’s qualifications -
Peter received his Jurist Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law in 1987. He was elected as Vice President of the Student Body and served as Director of Moot Court Board. He won the National Trial Competition sponsored by the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. Participated in California State Champion of ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition. Peter completed his Master of Arts Degree in Public Speaking in 1984 and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Drama in 1982 from Bob Jones University. Pertaining to Peter Bertling’s passion, he loves theatre and classical music, along with international and domestic travel with his wife.
