Chapin Newhard
Chapin Newhard founded 48North, a buy-side advisory firm established in 2023 to support family-owned and founder-led businesses connecting with the right private equity partners. His firm helps entrepreneurs explore their options, whether they want to grow their businesses, plan for retirement, or understand what opportunities are available. The concept for 48North arose from Chapin’s experience at Pine Tree Equity, a private equity firm based in Miami specializing in service businesses. During his time there, Chapin saw the challenges business owners faced when trying to navigate the sale of their companies. Many were overwhelmed by the number of inquiries from potential buyers and struggled with assessing the best path forward. This led Chapin to realize there was a need for a firm acting in the business owner’s best interest without requiring upfront fees. Chapin founded 48North with a clear mission: to provide advisory services that prioritize the needs of business owners without financial risk. Unlike many firms that charge for their services, 48North only receives compensation from the buyer once a deal is completed. This ensures that the business owner can access expert guidance without any financial commitment at the beginning of the process. 48North offers several services designed to help businesses with various needs. One of the firm’s key offerings is buy-side advisory, connecting business owners with the right investors or buyers who align with their vision and goals. By leveraging a vast network of private equity firms, Chapin ensures that business owners are matched with the most appropriate opportunities. Chapin Newhard, originally from Aspen, Colorado, has a background in finance and a passion for outdoor activities. He is also dedicated to environmental causes and enjoys skiing, hiking, and surfing. Chapin is engaged to Marissa Buchholz, and they share a dog named Nala.
