How the Y is Here For a Better Us. TM

SENIOR SWIM In a collaboration with the City of Ventura, the YMCA provides seniors an opportunity to use the pool free of charge on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-9am. Please see the pool schedule for more details. For more information about this program, contact: Jessica.Shauer@ciymca.org.

OPERATION VENTURA The YMCA is committed to being socially responsible. Through Operation Ventura, an outreach initiative, and the generous support of our donors, the Y has been able to provide free programming and membership to youth and families in foster or homeless situations. Participation in swim programs, youth sports and leagues, allows these underprivileged children in our community an opportunity to participate. For details and more information, please contact: Amber.Stevens@ciymca.org.

TOGETHERHOOD ® When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood. There is no other volunteer organization quite like the Y. That’s because in 10,000 communities across the nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change. LIVESTRONG AT THE Y The Y and the LIVESTRONG® Foundation joined together to create LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a physical activity and wellbeing program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals. The research-based program offers people affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person. Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength, increasing flexibility and endurance, and improving confidence and self-esteem. For more information or to register, please contact: Anthony.Mavros@ciymca.org.

3RD GRADE LEARN TO SWIM Research shows that children who do not learn to swim by the 3rd grade probably never will. Working with local elementary schools, the Ventura Family YMCA is providing free swimming lessons to 3rd graders. Through this grant-funded program, children can socialize with each other outside of school walls while learning a lifelong skill. To get your school involved with this program, contact: Jessica.Shauer@ciymca.org.
