Jr. NBA Skills Challenge – FREE!

Ages 14 years & under The Jr. NBA Skills Challenge provides boys and girls the opportunity to showcase their fitness through a dribbling, shooting, and rebounding skills competition in the sport of basketball. The program is free for all participants! Boys and girls compete separately in two different age groups: 12U and 14U. It’s a Thursday night and there is no school tomorrow! Come out to Skateland and take part in our annual Candy Bar Bingo. Spring Fling Scramble Sunday, April 14, 2019

Come join us for the 2019 Spring Fling Scramble! This is a 4 person scramble event which will be open to the first 30 teams that register. Included in the $55 per person fee is golf, cart, range balls, bowl of chili, and a pitcher of frosty beverages per team. There will also be 4 closest to the pin prizes and an optional skins game. Shotgun start at 8:30 am. This event is on the Sunday of The Masters. There will be food and drink specials that day for anyone who wishes to stay and watch the culmination of American Golf’s grandest stage. Call the golf shop to reserve your foursome at 815-467-7888.

May Scramble at Heritage Bluffs Saturday, May 11, 2019

Come out and enjoy the spring weather in this 4-person scramble format. There will be contests for closest to the pins, long drives and an optional skins game. All Ages Welcome Celebrate Earth Day by participating in the I&M Canal Trail spring clean up! We are looking for groups to spend one day to help keep your I&M Canal Trail beautiful. Before the trees, plants and flowers bloom; before the hikers and bikers take to the path; we need your help to clean it up. Join in the fun as volunteer groups come together to beautify the canal. This is a great opportunity for scout groups, social organizations, churches and for you to give back to the community. Grab your family and friends and head out to the trail and be part of a great day. All groups will be assigned a section of the I&M Canal. Sections could be .5 – 1 mile in length. Dog Gone Easter Egg Hunt - FREE!

Easter egg hunts aren’t just for kids! Bring your dog to the annual egg hunt. There will be plenty of plastic eggs stuffed with dog treats that your canine can chow down on. Join us for an invigorating winter run at the 40th Annual Frosty 5 Mile! Runners of all ages are invited to brave the cold. The first 200 runners will receive an official Frosty 5 Mile stocking cap. Runners are invited to stay after the race for pizza and awards. The overall male and female first place finishers will receive awards, plus the top 3 in each age group. Awards will also be given to the top overall male and female resident. Preregistration will be available online only through February 5th. After the deadline participants will only be able to register on race day.

Open to all ages! Mom and Dad do you have a little runner in the family? If so, this is a fun way to get them started while getting the whole family involved! You’ll run through fun colors on the way to the finish line. Everyone will get a cool pair of sunglasses and the first 200 registered will get white t-shirt. The fun won’t stop at the finish line ether. Everyone is invited back to the Family Stage at the festival for Family Fun night! We’ll have glow sticks, a video game truck and more! You won’t want to miss this fun opportunity.

Who likes Taco Tuesday? How about Fiesta Friday? If that sounds like you, you should join us for a run through the scenic Heritage Bluffs Public Golf Club. With a few challenging hills to add to the fun, runners will be rewarded with a margarita, tacos and nacho bar! Runners will receive an official race t-shirt, food, entertainment and more! Connecting kids to education, fun, friends & new experiences

Ages 3 & 4 years by September 1 The primary goal of the Kids Connection preschool program is to provide children with a stimulating environment in which they can develop. The program will provide varied experiences that will promote development in all areas: Social, Emotional, Intellectual and Motor. The staff will strive to give each child a positive feeling of self-worth and value each child’s uniqueness. The facilities and planned activities are designed to provide an environment in which each child can freely express themselves and develop their potential. The children are encouraged to communicate with other children and adults, to explore, discover and learn through creative interaction. Early Childhood Programs Play and Learn

Ages 2 ½-3 years This fast-filling class features finger plays, craft projects, stories, rhythm and games. This program focuses on preschool preparedness skills such as use of large and small motor skills, arts and crafts, taking turns, listening, circle time, following directions, sharing and participating in clean up. Emphasis is placed on socialization skills, building self-esteem and fun. Please discuss with your child that mommies and daddies do not stay. We are going to have a great time! Ages 1-5 years with adult Come join us at the Field House gym and let the kids burn off some energy. 12 “Synergy” Park District Dance Crew What is Synergy?

Synergy Competitive Dance, Pom and Cheer competes in the Illinois Park District Drill Conference Team Division. This is a great opportunity for your child to become a part of a team that will build his/her selfesteem and encourage him/her to be confident and outgoing. This is an 8-month commitment. The Competitive Team provides members with a unique opportunity to study, explore, and perform dance, pom, and cheer at a higher level of expectation. This gives the more disciplined performer a way to study at studio-quality level of instruction. Synergy Team 2018-19 season runs from October 2018 through May 2019. Members are required to be enrolled for the entire season. Payments are made in 2 installments September & December. Synergy Park District Team competes from January to April in the Illinois Park District Drill Conference.

Dance Team classes will be at Channahon Park District Arrowhead Community Recreation Center (ACC) on Tuesday or Wednesday nights depending on which age division. Pom and Cheer will practice at the Joliet Park District Kathy Green Multi-Purpose Center(JPDMPC) on Thursday Nights. All competitions are on Saturdays or Sundays. A schedule for all classes will be handed out at the first class. Competition schedules will be handed out as soon as dates and times are confirmed.

Grades K-4th After the Bell is an after school program which provides activities and supervision for children after school. The program follows District 17 school calendar and provides direct transportation from the Channahon schools to Skateland Recreation Center and will begin on the first day of school and end on the last day of school. Children have the opportunity to express themselves through a variety of activities that include games, crafts and sports as well as, outdoor play and quiet time for reading and homework. A snack and drink are provided on the regular school days, the extended dates listed below your child will have to bring their own lunch. Registration for this program must be done in person at the Arrowhead Community Center. Everyone is welcome to sign up! You are able to pay per day, pay monthly on our EFT payment plan or pay for the year in full. Youth Athletics Co-Ed Youth Spring Soccer

Ages 4-14 years (age as of April 13, 2019) The league is designed for participants to utilize fundamental skills of soccer in game situations. Records will not be kept and winning and losing are not the nature of the game. Each team will be directed by one or two coaches who will provide instruction on soccer fundamentals in a positive and fun environment. Teams will have either one or two practices a week. Practices begin the week of April 1 and one game every Saturday, starting April 13. Practices will be held at various parks around the park district area. All games will be played at Central Park located off Rt. 6 behind Arrowhead Community Center and Tomahawk Aquatic Center. Game times will vary between the times of 9 AM and 3 PM based on size of the league. Please note jerseys are not included. They may be purchased at the Arrowhead Community Center for $20. They are a white/red reversible jersey that has been used in the past so if your jersey still fits it can be used for multiple seasons! Volunteer Coaches Needed!

Volunteer coaches are needed for our youth sports leagues. Our youth leagues continue to be a great experience for the children in the community. Volunteer coaches are a big reason these leagues have been so successful. Please support your son or daughter, get involved and sign up to be coach! Volunteers receive a $25 Park District credit to be used towards future programs or activities. Coaches clinics available! Please Note: Due to the size and nature of sports leagues, requests to accommodate individual schedules and preferences cannot be honored. Youth Sports Blind-Draft Policy

In order to provide every child with fair and equal treatment, a blind draft process will form the teams. Due to the large number of registrants in our youth sports programs and the attempt to keep teams equal, we cannot accommodate special requests for specific coaches or teammates. Only the head coach and one assistant coach will be allowed to request that their children be placed on the same team.

Babysitting Certification

Ages 11-14 years This course will prepare young people for the responsibility of babysitting according to the American Red Cross. The class covers on how to supervise children, simple first aide, diapering, and more! Participants will also learn how to interview for a job and parent expectations of a good babysitter. Participates will need to bring a teddy bear or doll to class along with a sack lunch. This class is instructed by Karen Cooper. Speed and Agility for Youth Athletes

Grades 5th-8th Are you ready for the upcoming sports season? Is it time to focus on your speed and agility to get your ready to play your best? This class will give you the jump-start you need to increase your sports performance. Class will focus on increasing age appropriate strength, directional changes, learning how to use deceleration to reduce the risk of injuries, and focus on games and competition to keep it fun!

Accelerate Indoor Speedway STEM Academy

Ages 10-14 years ( Must be at least 48” tall for this trip) Junior go kart racing is intended not only to provide participates with the opportunity to experience the excitement of indoor kart racing but also the tools and the education they need to someday be good drivers! You’ll learn about speed, control, braking, turning, passing and on-track etiquette. Participants will first attend the STEM Academy which includes classroom instruction with worksheets, in track area and kart talk, solar energy discussion, hands on learning and more! Animal Shelter Volunteer Day

Ages 12-17 years Back by popular demand, we are looking for participants during spring break to volunteer at the animal shelter. The Fitness Staff at Channahon Park District are proud to offer you a group exercise program that offers a wide variety of classes for all fitness levels. Join our staff for a fun workout and continue your commitment to be fit. Adult Fitness Registration Options Option #1

Unlimited Class Pass: Attend as many classes as you like with flexibility. The unlimited pass allows you to pick and choose which classes you want to attend from day to day and week to week. Try as many as you like and mix up your workouts. The unlimited passes are already discounted therefore additional discounts will not be applied. A. Walk-in fee for Spin classes, Zumba, 1.25 hour classes and some occasional specials is $7R or $8NR. Fitness Members save $1 on the walk in fee.

Cancellations – We try very hard to avoid cancelling classes, however, occasionally we do need to cancel a class. We will send an e-mail to registered participants and to unlimited members whenever possible as soon as we are aware of the cancellation. Classes that consistently have less than 4 participants are at risk of being cancelled. If the decision is made to cancel a class, registered participants and unlimited participants will be notified and the website will be updated to reflect the change.

18 Hole Course located in Community Park Open Daily Dawn to Dusk Weather Permitting Ever throw a frisbee? Then you can play Disc Golf! Players use a disc to ‘drive’, ‘chip’ and ‘putt’ into an elevated basket to complete each hole. The course winds through the natural areas of Community Park. People of all ages can enjoy the outdoors and view the plantings and wildlife found in the park while playing disc golf. Concrete tee surfaces allow for a quality year round disc golf experience.

Cars have changed and so have traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads you travel every day. Special Recreation of Joliet & Channahon (SRJC)

Special Recreation of Joliet & Channahon (SRJC) is a cooperative extension of the Joliet and Channahon Park Districts, which provides year-round recreation activities for individuals who wish to participate in alternative Park District programs. These programs are designed to help participants who have physical or mental disabilities, sensory impairments, or any other type of disability, to develop leisure skills, independent living skills, and motor skills. In addition to these benefits, perhaps the most important aspect of SRJC’s programs is fun! SRJC staff members have experience in therapeutic recreation or related fields. SRJC provides training sessions for all staff members. We will provide the appropriate staff-to-participant ratios. Transportation is available for some SRJC programs to residents of Joliet and Channahon for an additional fee. For more information about SRJC or to request a registration form, call the office at 815-741-7275 ext. 160.

Annual Information Form (AIF)

SRJC requires that all participants have an AIF on file. The form can be found online or filled out at time of registration. Forms must be completed at the beginning of the calendar year, whenever information changes, or if you are a new participant.

The Joliet Park District supports the rights of people with special needs to participate in any program. An adult or child must adhere to the guidelines of that particular program. The Joliet Park District believes that all members of the community are entitled to have equal leisure opportunities. Attention Summer Campers

Campers must bring sun block, swimwear, backpack, lunch and a drink daily unless otherwise noted. An 8-week calendar will be given to each participant detailing all activities, swimming, field trips, etc. Additional information will be included in the Parent/Camper Manual which will be distributed upon registration after April 23 or mailed if registered by April 23. All emergency and behavioral forms are located within the manual and are to be returned to the SRJC Camp Director or at the Parent meeting prior to the start of the camp season. Channahon Park District’s flower beds grow better with some TLC! That’s why we are inviting area scouting programs, civic organizations, volunteer groups, and individuals to be a part of our Adopt A Flower Bed program.

What is Adopt A Flower Bed?

Adopt A Flower Bed is a volunteer activity where area volunteer groups “adopt” a flower bed in a Channahon Park District park. The adoptive group plants and maintains the bed during the spring, summer, and fall.

We provide all the materials you need

The Park District provides all planting materials and tools. Volunteer groups need to provide energy, time, and enthusiasm. This is an ideal service project for all ages, children through seniors!

Pavilion Reservations RESIDENT The Channahon Park District is accepting resident reservations for picnic pavilions at Central and Community Parks beginning Saturday, January 12, 2019 for a $40 fee ($50 for Maple and Linden Pavilions). Payment is required when the reservation is made. Reservations on that day will be accepted from 7:00 AM-12:00 PM on a WALK-IN ONLY BASIS at Heritage Crossing Field House with a photo ID and current utility bill. Only one pavilion may be reserved on the first day. After 12:00 PM on January 12, reservations will be accepted in person or by the phone.

NONRESIDENT

Nonresident reservations will begin at 8:30 AM Monday, January 28, 2019 for a $100 fee ($125 for Maple and Linden Pavilions). Payment is required when the reservation is made. Pavilions are not available to nonresidents on the following holiday dates: May 25-27, July 4, Aug 31-Sept 2, 2019. ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED AT THE PAVILIONS ONLY WITH A PERMIT. Depending on the size of the group and activities planned, extra fees and liability insurance may be required. *To receive a refund ($5.00 processing fee for check and credit card refunds) cancellations must be made 10 days prior to the event and a refund request form must be filled out. Arrowhead Community Center Arrowhead Community Center is a 17,500 square foot facility that houses the administrative offices of the Channahon Park District, as well as two racquetball courts, aerobics room, pre-school rooms, and program rooms.

Heritage Crossing Field House Heritage Crossing Field House A cooperative venture between Channahon School District 17 and the Channahon Park District. This 37,000 square feet of community recreation space houses two full size gymnasiums, batting cage, 3,000 square foot Dimensions Fitness Center, three lane suspended walking/running track, meeting/program room, childcare, and locker rooms.

People for Channahon Parks Foundation

The People for Channahon Parks Foundation is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization in the community. The organization’s mission is to “provide opportunities for the preservation of open space and the development of recreational resources within the Channahon Park District.” Visit their website at www.PeopleForChannahonParks.org.

Three Rivers Festival Committee

Channahon’s annual Three Rivers Festival is organized by a group of community volunteers. Two representatives from each of the four sponsoring organizations (Channahon Baseball League, Chanooka Braves, Channahon Lions Club and Channahon Fire Department) are joined by at large representatives. The Village of Channahon and Channahon Park District have non-voting committee memberships. The Festival Committee schedules events, arranges for entertainment and takes care of all aspects of the festival. Each of the sponsoring organizations receive one fourth of the proceeds of this major fund raising event for their community programs. The Committee meets monthly February-September on the third Tuesday of the month at the Channahon Municipal Center Board Room. For information visit www. IL Dept. of Natural Resources

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is responsible for several area parks: Channahon Access to I & M Canal (815-467-4271); the I & M Canal State Trail (815-942-0796); Goose Lake Prairie State Park (815-942-2899); Heideke Lake (815-942-6352); the Des Plaines Conservation Area (815-423-5326); Mazonia/Braidwood State Fish and Wildlife Area (815-237-0063).

Forest Preserve District of Will County

The Will County Forest Preserve District maintains McKinley Woods Forest Preserve located at the south end of McKinley Woods Road, the Rock Run Rookery on Youngs Rd south of Rt. 6, Lake Chaminwood on Shepley Rd west of I-55, and the Rock Run Preserve on Hollywood Blvd east of Channahon. The McKinley Woods Preserve includes the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center and Kerry Sheridan Grove, accessible from Blackberry Lane. Important Program Participation Information

The Channahon Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. The Channahon Park District continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect participants’ safety. However, participants and parents/guardians registering for recreation programs and activities must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational programs and activities. You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor child/ ward is physically fit and/or skilled for the activities contemplated. It is always advisable, especially if the participant is pregnant, disabled in any way or recently suffered an illness to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity.

Satisfaction Guarantee

The Channahon Park District is continuously working to provide our residents with the highest quality programs available. Because you should always be satisfied with your program experiences with us, we guarantee our recreation programs. If you are not satisfied after attending two program sessions, we kindly ask you to fill out our Refund Request Form. Include your suggestions, ideas or changes to help us provide the best possible programs. Processing fees are not charged to program refunds under a Satisfaction Guarantee.

A Gift of Leisure

Gift cards are available throughout the year for the Channahon Park District. Give the gift of leisure, in the form of golf, swimming, any of our hundreds of programs, and merchandise and food at Heritage Bluffs. Gift cards are available to purchase at Arrowhead Community Center, Heritage Bluffs, and Heritage Crossing Field House.

All Channahon Park District programs and services are open to such inclusion, upon the participant complying with registration procedures. Photo Policy

Periodically photos and video footage are taken throughout the Channahon Park District. By participating in our programs, events, or visiting our public parks and facilities, you acknowledge your photo or video image may be taken. Photos and video footage are used by our staff to promote our programs and facilities in District publications, marketing materials and social media without further prior notice or compensation. If you prefer to not have your likeness used for these purposes, please let our staff know at the time pictures/video footage are taken or contact us at 815-467-PARK (7275). Photos and video footage are the property of the Channahon Park District, and never sold, distributed or used for any other purpose.

Commemorative Tree & Bench Programs

You can make a special memory by purchasing a tree or bench to be placed in one of your parks. Mark a birth, anniversary, any of life’s special moments, or remember a family member or friend. A wide variety of trees or a bench made with the use of recycled plastic timbers can be placed in almost any of your parks. REFUND REQUEST PROCEDURE

1. Carefully complete the Channahon Park District registration form on page 50. Registration forms are also available at Arrowhead Community Center, Heritage Crossing Field House or online at www.channahonpark.org. Include all names, ages, course names and numbers, phone numbers and address. Under 18? Waiver must be signed by parent or guardian. Waivers not filled out correctly may not be processed. Only one family per registration form.

The Channahon Park District understands that schedules change and things come up that prevent participation in programs that have been registered for. It is our intent to refund your money whenever possible. We ask that you understand that in order to maintain the integrity of our programs that the following guidelines have been developed: 1.

Patrons requesting a refund are asked to complete refund request form. Forms are available at Arrowhead Community Center, Heritage Crossing Field House or downloadable on our www.channahonpark.org website from the registration page.

2. Payment for all activities must be made at time of registration or registration is not complete. Payments can be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa/Mastercard). Returned checks will result in a $20 fee.

All refund requests are subject to approval. Filling out the form does not guarantee a refund.

All refunds are assessed a $5.00 processing fee. The fee is waived if you choose to have a credit put on your account or receive a Park District gift card.

Please allow up to 30 days for your refund to be processed.

Please submit refund requests 3 business days prior to the program/rental start date or listed registration deadline date.

Requests for refunds made after the deadline or after class has started will be considered on an individual basis and are subject to approval. Refunds issued after program start dates will be prorated. Participants will be charged for classes that have taken place, attended or not, based on the date the refund request form was received.

No refunds will be granted after the third class meeting with the exception of a medical reason. Refunds for medical reasons must be requested within 10 days following completion of the program or activity and a doctor’s note will be required with the refund request.

Refunds will not be issued for the portion of the program fees paid for unrecoverable expense such as contractual instructor fees, tickets, trips, t-shirts, books, and other expense after the program registration/refund deadline.

9.

Dimensions Fitness Center memberships are nonrefundable. A prorated refund may be assessed when medical circumstances are taken into consideration.

3. Incomplete registration forms will NOT be processed and may be returned to sender. 4. No Telephone Registration is accepted. 5. The Channahon Park District encourages individuals registering for Fitness Center membership or other strenuous/physical programs to obtain a physician’s approval prior to registering. 6. The Channahon Park District may cancel, combine, or postpone classes/programs with insufficient registrations.

MULTIPLE CHILD DISCOUNT Families registering multiple children for Youth Sport Leagues, Ryuku Kempo Karate, After the Bell (monthly or yearly plan) or Day Camp Programs are eligible for the following Multiple Child Discount: 1. 10% off a second child’s registration fee for the same program or activity. 2. 15% off each additional child registered for the same program or activity, after the first two registered.

Despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any recreational activity/program. Parking and access to the ravine trail will be from the trail head site at Silver Leaf Circle north of Rt 6 and west of the DuPage River. The trail head will also be the location of a nature based playground, outdoor classroom/amphitheater, picnic pavilion, and other amenities.

Ravine Mulch Trail Arroyo Trails will provide a significant and truly unique 78 acre nature park and walking trails. The park will include a one-mile walking trail taking you along the ravine, forest and meadow areas in nature. The park will feature many nature based educational programs and outdoor play, learning, and fitness areas.
