NCC to shut down 30m phone lines as SIM registration ends KELVIN EGERUE (Business Editor) and STAN OKENWA HERE were strong indications yesterday that no fewer than 30 million mobile telephone lines otherwise known as Global System of Mobile telecommunication (GSM) would be shut down today as the regulator of GSM operators, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) clamps down on unregistered mobile phone lines.

strike is coming three days to the expiration of the sevenday ultimatum given to the Federal Government by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to meet its demand or face industrial action.
