ABOUT

JEAN-EFFLAM BAVOUZET

Award-winning pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet enjoys a prolific recording and international concert career. In summer 2015 he returned to the BBC Proms performing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra under Nicholas Collon. European highlights in the 2015-16 season include debuts with Opernhaus Zürich under Gianandrea Noseda, Svenska Kammaorkestern under Jérémie Rhorer, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, and Gothenburg Symphony where he will perform both of Ravel’s piano concertos in one program under the baton of François-Xavier Roth—he will collaborate with Roth again with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in November. Later in the season he will return to Orchestre National de Belgique with Ion Marin as well as Manchester Camerata, Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano, and Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano under Vladimir Ashkenazy. In North America, this season he returns to The Cleveland Orchestra with Vladimir Jurowski, San Francisco Symphony (under Tortelier), and Seattle Symphony Orchestra (with Morlot). In recital, he regularly performs at such venues as the Louvre in Paris and London’s Wigmore Hall. In addition to his return to London’s International Piano Series, he will also be giving recitals in Santa Barbara and Denver as well as in Singapore. Mr. Bavouzet records exclusively for Chandos and his recent release featuring the complete Prokofiev piano concertos with the BBC Philharmonic and Gianandrea Noseda won the Concerto category of the 2014 Gramophone Awards. Ongoing recording projects include Beethoven and Haydn piano sonata cycles.
