Central Skills
Activities range from innovative sports such as climbing, horse riding, ice skating, stand up paddle boarding & zorbing to residential trips, debating, educational visits and accredited courses including First Aid, Sports Leadership Awards, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, driving lessons and many more.
Central Foundation Sixth Form students are also encouraged to show willingness to participate in a variety of communities and social settings including volunteering in their local community through the Community Action Group. In addition to students can volunteer to working with local Primary Schools as part of the Reading Buddies Programme and become an in-school Reading Mentor with Year 7 students. We encourage students to become community leaders through raising awareness for charities as well as becoming Subject Mentors to support departments and inspire other students. Students can take part in volunteer programmes across the school as well as volunteering to work with Years 7-10 students in the Central Plus offer and in the Learning Lounge.

At CFGS6, we aim to provide our students with all the opportunities they need to be prepared for the world of work and to be able to compete as confident, global citizens. The world is an every evolving landscape and in order to ensure that our students have the right skills and are resilient enough to be successful in the 21st Century we introduced our Central Skills:
Your daughter will be encouraged to identify the skills and explain how she is demonstrating their use in her work at KS5. All students will have access to the skills’ descriptors relevant for KS5 to assist her in this process via TEAMS.
Student Leadership
While we recognise that our students are intellectually dextrous, we also want them to feel empowered, confident leavers and be able to articulate their ideas, thoughts and feelings. We want our students to be part of the decision making process at CFGS6 and feel ownership of the school community.
We run student leadership opportunities across all year groups, and all students are welcomed and there are leadership roles to suit a wide variety of students. Opportunities available to Sixth Formers are:
• Form Representative • Digital Media Ambassadors • Student Council • Student Tour Guides • Student Panel Interview Ambassadors • Subject Ambassadors • Central+ Junior Assistants • Head Girl – Year 13 only • Senior Prefect – Year 13 only
