Educational Trips and Visits in School Time
As a Sixth Former, students do not have lessons on their timetable from Period 1 to 6 every day. However, we expect all students to use these periods where no lessons are scheduled to conduct independent study, revision, wider reading, complete homework and work in their personal development and prepare for Post18 progression.
As part of your daughter’s normal programme of learning at CFGS Sixth Form, we will regularly enhance her experience by providing trips to places of educational interest. All our trips and visits are planned safely and your daughter will always be accompanied by school staff, though there are occasions when your daughter is required to travel to / from a venue by herself. When the trip involves a change in your daughter’s normal school routine, the Headteacher will write to you to give you information about these trips and to request your permission for your daughter to attend and to travel by herself if necessary.

When the trip takes place during your daughter’s normal lesson time, we will not write to you. Trips and visits in lesson time are normally within walking distance from the school.
Charges can apply for trips and visits. This does not undermine the school’s responsibilities in terms of the 1988 Education Act. Please note that we always consider circumstances of special need and will find a way to support your daughter if you contact the school. If insufficient funds are forthcoming, trips will not go ahead.
