Whatcom County – Our home. More and more people are agreeing that Whatcom County is a nice place to live. And if we don’t act now, this growth can lead to loss of farmland, pollute our waterways and eventually the loss of forests much like the counties to the south. As we found out the hard way with Lake Whatcom, our environment must be protected. Given that the drinking water for the majority of our residents comes from Lake Whatcom, the County has a primary responsibility for protecting and restoring Lake Whatcom. Bob will fight to limit future development around the lake, increase efforts to reduce pollution from existing development in the watershed, and expand public ownership of lands around the lake. Bob Kelly has the experience and know-how to manage these changes. He’s the Natural Resources Director of the Nooksack Tribe, and he serves on the Bellingham Bay Foundation and the Washington Forest Practices Board, appointed by Governor Gary Locke.
He will preserve what we value most by protecting our farms and forests and our drinking water.
