Puerto Rico declines to host the 2022 Games

The Puerto Rico Olympic Committee (COPUR) declined on April 30 to continue the fight to host the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games 2022, due to the insufficient commitment of funds from the government. The information was sent in a document signed by Sara Rosario, President of COPUR to the Centro Caribe Sports Future Venues Commission.


Centro Caribe Sports member athletes shine in Senior Weightlifting Championship

A large number of athletes from Centro Caribe Sports member countries were among those who established new Pan American records during the Senior Weightlifting Championship in Santo Domingo. Next, the list of athletes and the new records: Dahiana Ortiz (DOM), 49kg category, 82 kilos in snatch and 179 kilos in total. Crismery Santana (DOM), category 87kg, 115 kilos in snatch. Miguel Suárez (COL), 55kg category, 137 kilos in clean and jerk. Julio Mayora (VEN), 73kg category, equalized in snatch (156 kilos). Brayan Rodallegas (COL), 81kg category, 168 kilos in snatch. Jhonatan Rivas (COL), 96kg category, tied marks in clean and jerk (208 kilos) and in total (393 kilos). Among the countries representing our organiza2

Panama adds an athlete for Tokyo

Sprinter Gianna Woodruff (PAN) in 400 meters with hurdles, achieved her qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by winning the competition at the Drake Relays, with a time of 55.02 seconds, managing to meet the minimum mark required by World Athletics in this proof (55.40).

Mexico will debut in Tokyo 2020 with the Canoe Slalom

The International Canoe Slalom Federation confirmed Mexico’s participation in Tokyo 2020, the first time in an Olympic Games, by receiving the quota via international ranking.

Colombian Valdez champion in the Archery World Cup Nora Valdez (COL) won the Compound Bow Archery World Cup held in Guatemala, defeating Tanja Gellenthien (DEN) in the final. Valdez was a silver medalist at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, with the women’s Composite Bow representing her country.

Alain Soreze President reelected of CROS Guadalupe

Alain Sorèze has been re-elected President of the Regional Olympic and Sports Committee of Guadeloupe (CROS Guadeloupe) during the General Assembly on April 17. This is the new Executive Board in its management: Vice Presidents Frédéric Theobald, Marceau Farant, Ketty Labau and Pierre-François Bardet. General secretary Pierre-Marie Hilaire

Sandra Osborne is part of the Panam Sports Commission

Sandra Osborne (BAR), Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) President, was included in the Panam Sports Legal Commission. Meanwhile, Dr. Adrian Lorde, member of the BOA Board, will be part of the Medical Commission of the Pan American sports organization.

Antigua and Barbudas qualify two athletes to the 2021 Carifta Games

Alyssa Dyett and Mia Macintosh are the first athletes to qualify for the 2021 Carifta Games to be held in Bermuda next August representing Antigua and Barbuda. Dyett and Macintosh, both U17 Triple Jump athletes, posted a jump of 11.67 meters and 11.48, respectively, exceeding the minimum qualification mark for the Games of 11.25 meters, during the Meet organized by the Athletics Association of their country on the YASCO track, on April 25.

COES presents Tokyo 2020 delegation uniform El Salvador’s Olympic Committee officially launched the uniform that their country’s athletes will wear at the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Dominican Republic conquers the Pan American Cup and the Punta Cana Panam Open

With five gold medals, the Dominican Republic won the 2021 Punta Cana Junior Pan American Cup, a qualifying event for the First Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia to be held from September 9 to 19. The host country also had four silver and five bronze medals. In the event, nations representing Centro Caribe Sports were also on the podium, such asVenezuela (2, 3, 1), Panama (1, 0, 0), Puerto Rico (0, 1, 2) and Haiti (0, 1, 0). In the case of the Punta Cana Panam Open, again the Dominican Republic dominated with eight golds, in addition to six silver and five bronze medals. Other countries representing our organization were medalists, such as Panama (1, 1, 0), Guatemala (1, 1, 0), Haiti (0, 0, 4) and Costa Rica (0, 0, 1).
