If you attended the Central-Live Oak game, you probably didn’t see the lineup that you were expecting. Whether it was the center fielder at second base or the left fielder at catcher, it certainly wasn’t conventional, but it worked. Live Oak struck first, scoring two runs in the first two innings, but the Wildcats answered in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own on a passed by and error with Jacob Schopp at the plate. Two more Wildcats scored in the bottom of the fourth on a double by Justin Smiley. They added three more in the fifth on hits by Jacob Schopp and Trae Blalock. Ryan Navarra was very sharp on the mound, giving up 3 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Dylan Cormier John Fralick closed out the game to preserve the Wildcats 7-4 win. It was a roller coaster ride of a season for the baseball Wildcats, but they do have some positive momentum going into summer ball. It was a good way to go out for the Wildcat seniors who were part of the state tournament run in 2010. We wish them the best of luck in the rest of their high school careers and on into college and careers. Next year’s Wildcat squad promises to be a good one, returning six position players and two pitchers, including third baseman Brett Courville who batted .410 on the season and outfielder, pitcher Mason Gautreaux (.340 AVG, 2.06 ERA). Thanks for some great memories seniors, and good luck to next year’s Wildcat baseball team.
