Division I SPORTS

As a member of the Mid-American Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association, we have 17 NCAA Division I sports. And you can attend all home games for FREE!

Sports for everyone

Club sports are student-led organizations for those who love competitive sports. You’ll stay active while competing against other universities in the sport you love.

Intramural sports with 20+ competitive sports to choose from, you’ll meet new people and participate in a variety of special events, leagues and tournaments.

Esports are also competitive at CMU. Our teams practice in their own esports arena in the Student Activity Center. Players take part in tournaments with other colleges, and several teams have gone on to national competitions.

The Student Activity Center has workout equipment, swimming pools and ball courts to help you stay active.

Did you know you don’t have to be a music major to audition for marching band? And it’s open to graduate students!

Have a hobby you love? There’s a group for that: 3-D printing, improv comedy, anime, fishing and lots more. With nearly 400 registered student organizations, you can make an impact outside the classroom, too.

Whatever your passion, we have registered student organizations you can join: » Make an impact with Central Sustainability. Our student-led group has won national awards for reducing waste on campus. » Love animals? Try Central Paws. » Central Votes, another student-run organization, led grassroot voter registration efforts that saw 68% of eligible students voting in the 2020 election. Plays, musicals, concerts, dance performances, our own annual fashion show “Threads,” and the Central International Film Festival are all waiting for you.
