Council establishes operational and strategic priorities that align with the community plan, corporate plan and operational plan.

The audit committee provides an independent external review of our governance and internal control framework.

The community elects the councillors and mayor and provides input through the community plan, consultations and community reference groups to determine the region’s priorities.

The Australian and Queensland Governments provide authority to council under the Local Government Act 2009 and endow funding for various programs.

The Central Highlands Development Corporation manages the economic and tourism facets of the local government area. Board members comprise of councillors and the chief executive officer.
