I first got into photography at the age of 12. It was something to do as i grew up. I joined the U.S. Army and continued my hobby there in my spare time. It has always been a part of my life. I went to school and majored in both photography and graphic design. I specialize as a Live Music Photographer. I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in music and do about 65 shows a year. I’ve worked with NASCAR teams, photographing their pits stops at races, and I also work as a Commercial Media Photographer.
d n e m A Peter Visalia Cen Cal Serenade Shoot p.20 & p.62 I’m Peter Amend, I’m 29 and have been shooting photos since winding some Kodak 400 into an old German camera at the age of nine. As a kid I realized I could remember and describe things by taking photos of them, and there my adventure began. Photographing punk rock bands, and making prints - that was the coolest thing in the world. I love editorial, fashion, and wedding photography, but my heart beats hardest outside the studio - in the ocean, on a mountain peak, climbing a granite face, mountain biking in the forest, or anywhere that requires a passport. As John Muir said, “The mountains are calling, and I must go”.

I
’ve been following Conrad Roset’s career for years. Sometimes he does line drawings with small smudges of color on wood. Sometimes he does line drawings filled with watercolor details. In this series, Roset abandons the line altogether and uses only watercolor. I love Roset’s use of color and his restraint.

A freelance illustrator from Barcelona, Roset teaches illustration at the BAU design school and calls brands like Coca-Cola and Adidas his clients! His talent is obvious, but Roset also seems like a really down-to-earth and genuine person. He has remained friendly despite blowing up in popularity over the past few years. rom across the street I fell in love with the multi-tiered pagoda in Midtown,
Sacramento. The building & decor are Asian meets modern. We began the date on the heated patio with fresh salad rolls dipped in a delicious roasted peanut sauce. He ordered the Hoi Tom Kha. It is a delightful dish of blue shelled
42 | CCM mussels sauteed in coconut milk with lemon grass, onions, basil leaves and
cilantro tomatoes. With a generous portion and a savory combination of flavors, this dish is highly recommended! I ordered the drunken noodles -- thick, handmade noodles pan fried with garlic, chilies, tomatoes and Thai Basil. This delectable dish is large enough to share and a must try! We finished off our meal with vibrant purple ice cream made of Ube, a purple yam common in Hawaii. Topped with sweet rum sauce over grilled bananas and mangos, this dessert is unforgettable! up the stairs to Level Up, a swanky bar that gives you a bird’s-eye view of Midtown from a color-changing lounge. Enjoying the setting we sipped on some of Level Up’s signature cocktails. The Emerald Buddha was sweet and tangy. The Pattaya Beach made with coconut rum, pineapple rum and coconut water tasted exactly like the name implied! The ginger lemongrass

chasing our cocktails with Level Up’s fish tacos, which were crispy and loaded with flavor! One of the best things about Thai Basil is that it’s a family restaurant.
