Benefits for

cell culture

From process development to cGMP environments, the Biomass System is the choice of many cell culture engineers to optimize their bioreactor operation strategy.

Outstanding performance: - at lab level to understand the process and/or optimize the control strategy - for large-scale manufacturing, including the identification of process deviation, of optimal harvest time and/or PAT application - in animal cell production, whether in suspension or attached to microcarriers - with all of the following cell lines: CHO, PER.C6, Vero, BHK, Hybbridoma, HEK 293, NS0, Hela, Sf9, Sp2/0

Measurement

principle

properties of living cells; this application has the advantage of measuring only viable cell density. Unlike optical techniques, this system is insensitive to gas bubbles, microcarriers, cell debris or other particles in suspension. - Using FOGALE’s expertise in capacitive measurements and applying a unique and patented method, the Biomass System measures the viable biomass concentration (Biovolume), independent of cell size variations. - By scanning the entire frequency range and with precise measurements of permittivities, the β-dispersion spectra frequency (fc), the maximal permittivity difference (Δεmax), and the coefficient α the morphological and physiological state of cells. - FOGALE’s dielectric spectroscopy experience with animal cell lines brings the technique to a new level of achievement in measurement. Using a powerful patented method, the optional Advanced Cell Analyzer software Δεmax and the cell size distribution is correlated to the α parameters. Cell suspension -dispersion

Under the influence of an electric field, cells with intact plasma membranes (viable cells) are polarized and behave as tiny capacitors

Probes are made of materials that conform to FDA standards (316L stainless steel, PEEK, platinum, EPDM). 12 and 25 mm diameter sensors are available to fit all port sizes, in a choice of 120, 220 and 320 mm in length to fit all vessels. All sensors are sterilizable in place (SIP) or in an autoclave.

Driving your bioreactor toward the future

Softwares X system: an intuitive software program for plotting and recording the biomass and conductivity. It is designed for quick installation and rapid probe configuration by the user.

Biomass +: a software package to customize your Biomass System as an online, real time comprehensive cell analyzer.

Biomass Spectrometer: (optional)

Industrial IP 65 enclosure for industrial environments

tracks the physiology of your cells. It describes in detail the process dynamics and can be used to control the culture, driving it through the optimal operating range. In process development, it has proven to be a valuable technology that enables process understanding(including an alert to process deviations and identification of optimal harvesting time), which in turn leads to applications in large scale manufacturing. cell-specific spectral fingerprint is a powerful tool for culture traceability and PAT application.

Advanced Cell Analyser: (optional) number of viable cells and cell size, and determines cell size distribution in real time. In addition, it calculates online the cells’ doubling time. Now you can compare online and offline data with consistency! VCD reference method, at the same time reducing the costs and eliminating the risks of manual sampling and counting.
