A native Nashvillian, Bruce Matthews discovered painting as a form of selfexpression as a young adult.
After 50 years of exploration, he is a self-taught master of oils on canvas. Before devoting himself to painting full-time in 1987, Matthews did magazine, book, and album cover illustration work. Matthew’s work is in corporate and private collections through the United States including the Tennessee State Museum. In a remote studio nestled in the Tennessee forest his works have moved fluidly from surrealist tableaus to trompe l’oeil collages. He is currently busy with commission requests as well as new expressions and explorations.
