Plateaued

The scale will not change. I nudge it to another part of the floor where the slope is more treacherous. I flip it one-hundred-eighty degrees maybe the slope is benevolent now? The scale will not change.

I'm trying to find a place in this tiny bathroom where two plus two equals three.

In the future will houses come with special nooks where gravity is weak? A kitchen with a dark corner where all laws of biology and conservation of matter are helpfully suspended?

What future, I wonder, as the scale does not change.
