You Are Not Alone

You are not alone as you stand before your mirror sucking it in pulling back your shoulders posing.

You are not alone as you approach the scale pulling off your socks and jewelry bracing.

You are not alone in your worries cholesterol high blood pressure immobility.

I am right behind you not weighing what my driver’s license says winded after climbing the stairs depressed.

But it helps to know we are together and there are so many of us. Maybe instead of asking about a new friend’s religion or what kind of car they drive we should just casually inquire, “Do you weigh yourself nude?”

And when they say yes, we can throw our arms around them and cry, and say sister and laugh at our licenses together and know that we are not alone.
