When the Florist Weds

n planning her own May wedding to Dino Alfano, floral and event designer Kathleen Deery sought “relaxed glamour.” Colleague Laurie Arons helped with overall coordination, and Floreal arranged the tulips and greenery inside Grace Cathedral. For the Asian Art Museum reception, Deery thought big: nervy, hot-pink garden roses against gray bergères, French tulips in trumpet vases, and colossal tree peonies next to vintage Georg Jensen and sterling silver flatware. With a grin, she notes, “It was like ‘Downton Abbey’ 2013.” kathleendeerydesign.com.

ON THE ROCKS Florist Kelly Kaufman dips into turn-of-the-century seaside style at a Summerland estate affair. “We chose classic, neutral ivories, creams and whites,” says Kaufman. “Patience garden roses, sweet peas, ranunculus, fringed double tulips and white cherry blossoms were delicately tied with a pleated silk ribbon.” kellykaufman design.com. The arrangement was partly inspired by the Irish coast.

ENCYCLOPEDIA BOTANICA For this Silverlake wedding, Sarah Marie Zins of The Paper Arum responded to the unique personalities of her clients. “Megan and Etan are craft beer aficionados, so I procured dried hops to be incorporated into her bridal bouquet.” A library-meets-botanical theme continued throughout with monogrammed letters made out of moss, a whimsical olive branch crown and cotton stems in the bridesmaid bouquet. thepaperarum.com. What’s florist Danielle Rowe excited about this spring? “A bolder color story. Saturated tones add a crispness that I find very refreshing.” brownpaperdesign.com.
