A
fter a bicoastal courtship, which involved several tours in New York and Los Angeles, Tony de la Rosa, a financial adviser at UBS, proposed to Jenny Barr, an account supervisor at RMO Whetherly, in the summer of 2012. The Beverly Hills couple, who met through mutual friends in Palm Springs, knew they wanted a big wedding with flexibility in scheduling and decided to marry at the bride’s bucolic family property in Greenwich, Connecticut, Stone’s Throw. Organizing the event from 3,000 miles away had its advantages. “I would go for walks in December and send pictures of flowers for color inspiration,” says Barr, adding, “You have
to go with your instincts. It also helps to have someone you can trust on the other side—in my case, my mom.” In the end, the celebration was a midsummer night’s dream filled with personality. The bride’s brother Nate, a Topangabased Emmy-nominated composer, wrote an original score for the ceremony before the fathers of the bride and groom set off a cannon to commence the festivities. The guests—all 365 of them—were escorted through the main house, past the Davidoff cigar and tequila bars (a nod to the groom’s Mexican heritage) to an 80-foot reception tent. And after hours of dancing, a late-night pool party ensued when several penguin suits decided to take a dip. •
