Mercury Troubleshooting 4. Disconnect the Brown points wire (White points wire on 2 cyl) and ground the Stator’s Orange stop wire. Next, Check the Stator DVA: Read from Green (Stator)

Read to Engine Gnd

Ohms -

DVA (Connected) 180 V Minimum

NOTE: This test will show if the Stator is performing correctly. If testing this stator in this manner produces 0 or low voltage below the minimum specification, replace the Stator.

ENGINE WILL NOT STOP (KILL): 1. Disconnect Orange wire and check for spark at spark plugs. If you still have spark, then the stop circuit inside the Stator is defective. 2. Connect Orange wire to ground and use the choke function of the engine to kill (Recommended).
