A friendly reminder that HPS are once again taking part in “Harmony Day” celebrations. Harmony Day will be celebrated on Thursday 21st of March commencing at 1pm. Harmony Day celebrates our rich cultural diversity and the theme is “Everyone Belongs”. At HPS we will be celebrating Harmony Day by…  Coming to school dressed in ORANGE (the ‘official’ Harmony Day colour) – if you don’t have orange clothing – pink, red or yellow are all OK!  Cooking a FABULOUS Japanese cultural feast for lunch. K/1/2 will be making dessert, 2/3/4 will be preparing an entrée and 5/6 will be cooking the main meal.  Sharing a meal together in celebration of our cultural diversity!

To cover the food costs for Harmony Day, each child is asked to contribute $6 for their THREE course lunch. Parents are also invited to attend the lunch with the students and staff at a cost of just $6 per person. If parents would like to assist with cooking activities in any class, please let the school know by completing the Helpers Note attached to a previous Newsletter…the more the merrier! Please complete the HARMONY DAY Lunch Order Form sent home with a previous newsletter asap if you have not already done so.

FORMAL NEW SCHOOL UNIFORM It is wonderful to see so many students wearing the new formal school uniform! The uniform looks terrific and our school has received a lot of positive feedback about how professional and smart it is.

The University of New South Wales is once again offering families the opportunity to participate in ICAS and REACH Assessments. There have been some changes to ICAS this year and they have added a new assessment called REACH. If families are interested in REACH they can read about it at: https://www.unswglobal unsw.edu.au/educationalassessments/products/reach-assessments/.

If families are interested in participating in ICAS I would like to advise that the testing is now online and will be held in September this year. Please note that ICAS is more of a competition for high achieving students. Please contact the school office if you are interested in your child participating in either of these tests. HEALIES/ROLLER SHOES Due to a number of close calls and potential for accidents, the ‘Wheelie’ shoes or ‘Rollers’ will not be allowed to be worn to school. Please do not wear to school

We appreciate if all students could wear black sports shoes or black school shoes to school as per the uniform requirements. Thank you for your assistance with this!
