The Winter Olympics begin this February! This much-anticipated global event will take place in Beijing, China beginning Feb. 3 with the opening ceremony scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4. If you live in the Truckee-Tahoe area, the Winter Olympics is more than just a dream for many residents – it’s a reality. Whether you know someone, live next to someone or are someone who competed for a spot in Beijing, the Tahoe Donner community and Tahoe area has played a huge part in training today’s Olympians, including these local athletes.

If you’re looking to raise a little Olympian of your own, don’t miss out on the ski lessons offered at both the Cross Country Ski Center – a true world-class cross country ski area, right in our backyard – and “The Best Place to Begin,” Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort. Many national athletes started at Tahoe Donner and so can your own future gold medalists. With certified and professional instructors, the kids can grow their skills on some of the best learning terrain.

Downhill ski packages start at just $149 for members, which includes a lift ticket, lesson and rental, and cross country ski packages start at just $70. Learn more on page 16.
