Your Facilities staff has installed a rockery bench and patio area for people to gather at the Residents’ Center playing field. This is a popular area for residents to both exercise and socialize. We also added trees to provide shade during the hot summer months. All materials used were upcycled from our maintenance yard. The Facilities staff identified an under-utilized area by the playing field that had become overgrown with weeds and native vegetation. They knew we had the extra material on hand and thought a bench in this area would be both functional and provide an aesthetically pleasing feature to the Residents’ Center grounds.

The ACHOA is fortunate to have a Facilities staff who takes pride in their work and proactively look for ways to improve common area. Some may think all the Facilities staff does is “mow and blow” but, our crew is made up of skilled craftsmen who can accomplish many tasks that would otherwise require an outside vendor. From irrigation and mechanical repairs to landscape and masonry projects, the ACHOA can maintain and improve common area and assets at a fraction of the cost of an outside vendor.

TheClub

at ArrowCreek

Spring has arrived at The Club and we are looking forward to a busy summer full of golf, special events, pool season, family-fun activities and more! Men’s and Ladies League play has begun on the golf courses, the Pools are scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend (May 28th) and Bocce Leagues will begin shortly as well. By the time you read this article, the Club’s new General Manager will be on property and starting to get up to speed – we look forward to him spearheading our team while continuing to elevate our services. We look forward to having the community meet the new GM in the near future. We continue to invest in our golf courses in addition to all the new clubhouse expansion and remodeling going on. Golf course projects include replacing all of the outdated turf equipment, repairs, and replacement of cart paths, upgraded and new irrigation pumps and lines, drainage lines installed, driving range improvements, a new greens nursery and increases in our staffing and operating budget. Our golf courses will continue to improve by the month, and we should be at peak conditions by the fall of 2022.

We are looking at adding staff to almost all departments at the Club. If you know of any outstanding people looking for a terrific opportunity to work at an incredible Club – please have them contact us. We even have part-time positions available for residents that are non-Members to help us on the golf courses as Tee Starters and Player Assistants - if you like being outdoors and enjoy talking with people – please let us know – it might be a great way to stay active and plugged in to the community. Anyone interested should email cassie.pete@theclubac.com.

Our new event (banquet) space being constructed on the north end of our clubhouse is starting to take shape. The updated renderings (below) really put into perspective the beautiful space that is being created to host all of your special events, including the HOA Annual Holiday Party in December. As COVID restrictions continue to (hopefully!) ease throughout the year, we look forward to hosting your next business or personal celebration here at The Club.

For additional sneak peaks of all of the new spaces being built here at The Club, please follow our channel on YouTube @ theclubatArrowCreek. As always, we appreciate your patience as we continue through the final phases of construction creating the finest gated resort-style family club in Nevada. RichHohman

Partnerships

developed for covid-19 guidelines

by Eric brown, wahoe county manager

If COVID has taught us anything as a region, it’s how to work together. Washoe County has joined forces with the City of Reno and City of Sparks, the business community, the health and hospital industry, and numerous other partners like never before since COVID arrived in our community in March 2020.

The regional COVID website, COVID19Washoe.com, is a regional effort and is the recognized single source of information for all residents in the Truckee Meadows, regardless of city limits.

We’ve been through dark valleys and uncharted terrain together, and now as we blaze the trail to recovery, we do so arm-in-arm with those partners.

As of May 1, the State of Nevada lifted social distancing requirements and handed various aspects of COVID mitigation measures back to county jurisdiction. On June 1, capacity limits will be removed statewide. Local governments were empowered to create local guidelines for how to balance public health with economic health. It’s important to remember that some measures were not given over to local control, perhaps the most prominent of which is the statewide mask mandate.

Washoe County assembled a team to help steer the region toward recovery. This team includes the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Health District, and School District, but it doesn’t stop there. The team also brought in industry and health experts to guide the way. These experts included representatives from the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, the Nevada Hospital Association, recreation organizations, the hotel and casino industry, the restaurant industry, special events, and more.

The goal for this group was to create a plan that will get the community back to normal while continuing to beat COVID and prevent a resurgence of disease, regardless of statewide protocols. Specifically, the goal is to keep the positivity rate of COVID-19 below 5 percent, partner with business leaders to create safety standards, and communicate these standards clearly in a way that will empower the community to make informed decisions about their own activities.

This team worked with five guiding principles in mind:

1. The health of Washoe County citizens and visitors is as important as the health of the local economy.

2. The business community will make the best business decisions with high-impact guidelines.

3. People can make personal decisions about their own health risks within allowable guidelines.

4. Oversight is necessary to ensure compliance.

5. Keep it simple.

Armed with these principles and goals, Washoe County developed the framework to move us from May 1 onward.

We are coming into event season, and it is important that we can return to celebrating and enjoying what makes our community so special. Fortunately, many of our special events are in the great outdoors, but they are still responsible for offering safe options for attendees and keeping the health of our community as highest priority.

Washoe County comprises two cities, vast swaths of land, and numerous neighborhoods, and COVID has touched us all. But we must remember that this is a regional challenge with a regional solution. Your local representatives are working hard to ensure that public health and safety is tantamount to quality of life. We thank you for entrusting us with this monumental task.
