board of directors' note
As we look outside, it seems that Spring is definitely springing around ArrowCreek. The daffodils are popping up, the trees are starting to bud, and the snow has finally melted. As we swing into Spring, your Board has a number of projects on its plate including a quick community survey concerning better serving our youth. The results of the survey will be shared in the near future.
First, and most important, the Board is required by NRS 116 to put major projects and contracts out to bid on a regular basis. To that end, the Administration Committee put together a Request for Proposal (RFP) for selecting our Community Manager. Three candidates are in process of completing the RFP, including our current management company. The Board will meet in May to open bids. A winner will be selected at the August 17. 2021 board meeting. Changing managers is a daunting task, with significant associated costs, so the decision cannot be made solely on the metric of cost.
Also going out to bid is the contract for our pavement consultant. This is an important relationship, as the quality and durability of our 26 miles of private roads is highly dependent on the analysis and recommendations of our consultant.
Finally, we may also address the issue of corporate counsel. The process for that has not been developed, but it is under study.
On the social front, the Board and the Social Committee are hoping that by August, the State will have reduced or eliminated restrictions on outdoor gatherings so that we can again enjoy our usual summer picnic on the lawn at the Residents’ Center. We will not have the Fourth of July picnic as before and more information will be provided about an August picnic. However, please see the article further into the magazine about flying your American Flag during the fourth of July weekend. We hope everyone will show their spirit.
Speaking of the lawn, we encourage you to go there and see the nice job of relandscaping that our maintenance staff has done at the north end. It now looks much more attractive and inviting. See the article spotlighting our Facilities Staff. Our great employee staff keeps looking for opportunities to improve the community and if you have any ideas please let us know.
As you know, The Club continues with Its major renovation. They hope to have it completed by the end of summer. Because their parking lots have been torn up in advance of utility installation and repaving, parking for their employees has been severely limited. The ACHOA General Manager, Director of Security and two Board Members reached an agreement with The Club management to provide 25 parking places in the Residents’ Center lot until May 15 when our pools will open up. We are also providing 15 spaces on the gravel next to the field. In the meantime, the Club has arranged offsite parking elsewhere and will be running shuttles to and from those sites.
One issue that seems to come up regularly is that of residents’ concerns about
items on a Board meeting agenda. If you have questions, comments or concerns about any item that will be addressed at a Board meeting, please send them to our Community Manager (acservice@ associasn.com) who will then either address them directly or forward them to the Board or the relevant ACHOA advisory committees as necessary to provide a response. In addition, you can contact our Community Manager by phone at 775.334.7403 (leave a message and your call will be promptly returned) or you can send a request using the website www.ArrowCreek.com by going to the Suggestions tab and forward your questions.
