Jr. Davis was also present and told the commission he has asked City Manager Hickman about business license and he did not call him back. City Recorder Skelton informed Mr. Davis she tried to return his call with no answer. Mr. Davis also showed concerns if he would be able to haul for the City and also will this go through dispatch. ViceMayor Dan Creasy told Mr. Davis that this is left to the Officer’s discretion and also it does not go through dispatch. In open items, ViceMayor Dan Creasy stated he had spoken with someone about mural on the building and he would finish it for $1,500 plus paint. His name is Jerrod Stricklin and is a local artist. Vice-Mayor Dan Creasy stated the volunteer field at the City Park needs some work done. Commissioner Howell stated he had been asked if the City could widen the road at the end of Mink Branch Acres Road past the Milam residence to make it a two lane road. Manager Hickman stated he has a meeting with the grant administrator on April 18th regarding a playground grant. Commissioner Howell also asked about the City Pool. City Manager Hickman responded he was getting quotes on the patching that needs to be done at the pool. Commissioner Creasy stated the tile in the ditch at the Wayne County Bank is stopped up. He also asked about the dirt for the fields at the Sportsplex. City Manager Hickman stated it would cost an estimate of $10,000 to $15,000 and he would check on this further. Mayor Vencion shared that Jim Biggers property is showing much improvement and some improvement needs to be made to the sidewalks on Hwy. 64 West. ADVERTISE TODAY!! In Memoriam IN MEMORY OF GERTIE M. BREWER 4-16-1922 ~ 2000 A strange thing happened this morning, as soon as my feet hit the floor. I thought I heard somebody knocking; So I went to open the door. When I opened the door I saw no one was there. But I heard a voice inside me say, I have something for you to share today. I know you don’t sleep at night, and you really don’t eat like you should. I’ll tell you something that will ease you, if I only could. Remembering all the good times, and thinking of all the bad. It’s a good thing for you to do so. So listen to the words I have. I gave you her to listen to, and love for all your life. And you kept her for a long, long time. For you I really did try. So don’t misunderstand why you have to let her go. Because “I too, loved her so. I hope this will ease your burden, and take away some of your pain. I gave you all I knew to give, this was in my plan. Written by Carolyn Staggs April - 2012 Apr. 11-P.
