Letter From the President
What’s Your Impact?
I am pleased to provide you with the 2021-2022 Impact Report. Cathedral Catholic continues to thrive as the premier Catholic high school in San Diego County. We employ the best Catholic educators in California. Our alumni, benefactors and extended friends and faith community enrich and support the school in deeply meaningful ways. We are blessed.
This report will provide you with an overview of the school’s finances, which are healthy. We are also happy to share examples of community members who have made sacrificial financial commitments to the school to enhance the Dons experience. Finally, we will highlight some campus upgrades from this summer, which are significant and will make a positive impact on this school community.
One last thing. We ask you to consider how you want to make an impact at Cathedral Catholic. The late Fr. Michael Himes, a priest from the Diocese of Brooklyn, New York and a professor of theology at Boston College, was a charitable, witty, insightful and holy priest. One of his lasting impacts on my life were three questions that he famously shared with the Boston College community:
What brings you joy?
What are you good at?
And who does the world need you to be?
Perhaps as you consider your impact at Cathedral Catholic, those three questions can be modified to help you discern your contributions to the Dons family.
Sincerely,
Kevin J. Calkins, Ph.D.
President
