The Right Way to Traffic Intensive Program

The Right Way to Traffic Intensive program was designed specifically with traffic management companies to provide a pathway to employment in the sector, and is an evolved version of our original four-week program.

Over eight days, individuals build their skills and knowledge in the technical areas of setting up work zones and controlling traffic flow, as well as implementing safety procedures, applying workplace communication techniques (using UHF radios, conflict resolution) and completing risk assessments.

The combination of units in the program also addresses the forthcoming national changes to Work Zone Traffic Management training.

Civil Train has worked closely with jobactive provider, Jobs Statewide, to roll out this program for their job seekers. To date, 140 individuals have completed this program with plenty more courses scheduled for 2021. This program remains a continual success.

Based on the learners who have successfully completed the program, 75% have moved into employment.

EMPLOYER TESTIMONIALS

“Workzone Traffic Control has been employing successful graduates of Civil Train’s Right Way to Traffic (RWTT) program, since its inception, with great success.

“Through our involvement and ongoing commitment to supporting the program, we have found recruits who have graduated from the program to be amongst the highest quality candidates, who are able to add value and benefits, beyond simply holding Workzone Traffic Management accreditation.

RWTT graduates are able to demonstrate a better understanding of the role of a traffic controller and have been routinely able to hit the ground running, requiring less training effort after recruitment.

“Workzone Traffic Control are able to point to several instances, where graduates of the RWTT program have rapidly progressed to roles within the business, outside of traffic controller, and are happy to endorse and recommend the program to potential students and employers alike.”

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

“The Right Way to Traffic Program seemed like the right thing to do for me at the time. Between study and being a mum, I liked the flexibility of the program being eight days and the ability to work shift work if I was successful in gaining a position within the industry. I liked how the program included theory and lots of practical activities. My trainer, Neil, was amazing. A great trainer, very assertive, made the training fun and exciting each day. Our group worked well as a team and Neil ensured that. I believe the resume development component that is included in the program, was a big help to me actually selling myself and finding employment.

“Since completing the program I have gained employment with Workzone Traffic Control. They are a great company and really look after their staff. It was great to be able to show them my abilities and apply everything I had learnt over the eight days of intensive training.

“If I was able to sum it all up, I am very grateful for the opportunity provided to me by my job provider and thankful for the training and staff at Civil Train; they were amazing. If I was able to give advice to anyone thinking about undertaking this program, I would say absolutely go for it!”

TAMMY SPRAGGS – PAST RWTT STUDENT

“After being unemployed for six months, I was offered the opportunity to be trained as a traffic controller through my Jobactive provider. After some research and a few enquires, it became clear that good traffic control operators were in demand. I undertook my training through Civil Train; eight days of intensive training. Receiving a cluster of units to kick-start my career within the traffic management industry.

“After finishing my program, I was eager to find employment. I used my initiative. Sent my resume via email and also hand delivered my resume to potential employers. My luck paid off when I received an employment offer from Work Zone Traffic Control.

“For me, working as a traffic controller has been very rewarding, from setting up small closures in side streets to closing 220km of the Stuart Highway at Coober Pedy to assist in the landing of a space craft in Woomera.

“I highly recommend undertaking the Right Way to Traffic program to anyone. It really is second to none. I really did learn the necessary skills to start my career. The staff were fantastic. Especially my trainer Neil. Also, Brodie and Renee in the office for allowing me on the program and assisting me throughout the program as necessary. All of their help was invaluable.”
