CELEBRATING 15 YEARS OF SERVICE

Dear Friends,

It’s been 15 years since the inception of the ECE Shared Resources platform launch! Wow!! What a phenomenal achievement! I didn’t anticipate the kind of energy, passion and desire for this work expressed by states. Today, ECE communities in 34 states embrace our work and embed it into their professional development, technical assistance, QRIS and training initiatives while individuals such as directors, owners, and teachers are leveraging the resources in their work to operate a high-quality programmatic and fiscally sustainable business.

When I started ECE Shared Resources in 2008, little did I know that technology would become the single-most driving force in amplifying the good work of state systems and capacity building. It all began with an idea that the field could use something different, something tangible, something pragmatic. The goal was to create a knowledge hub of editable, real-world tools that would form a virtual infrastructure to help states and child care leaders respond to common and not-so-common business and programmatic challenges. We could help address the issue of isolation that many directors felt as they navigated the operation of their businesses and amplify the efforts of TA staff, coaches, licensing specialists and trainers. It is almost unimaginable to think that a still small voice of an idea turned into this mammoth knowledge hub and ECE support structure.

Best of all, I have the supreme honor of working with some of the brightest minds in the ECE field – our state partners and colleagues who also believe that supporting the ECE field starts with passion and motivation to make a difference in the communities they support. They are the true heroes. A heartfelt thank you to all our 34 state partners with whom I have the privilege of working, collaborating, and supporting.

Last, I want to express my deepest, heartfelt appreciation to Laurie Cochran, Louise Stoney and Sharon Easterling for their encouragement and guidance that resulted in the inception and expansion of our work. Thank you for believing we could blaze a trail where none previously existed.

Looking forward to the year ahead, we are excited to deliver more personal and engaging ways for ECE communities to embrace and embed the shared resources platform into their work. I cannot wait to unveil these tools in 2023.

Best regards,

The Provider Resource Hub has made a tremendous difference with my family interaction and communication. It has also helped me to get my program better organized and running as a real business. Thank you for offering this platform to assist providers like me to become better entrepreneurs/ business owners.

We provide free access to thread Alaska Tools to all licensed programs and have been able to tie it to several quality initiatives we are running as well as open capacity to our state’s childcare licensing staff.

Jen Clark, AK

Shared Services VT is the first place I check whenever I need administrative or HR tools. The cost savings are excellent, too! We have been able to stretch our dollars by using the discounts on new furniture and classroom materials… I appreciate the newsletters…they often cover topics that are not at the forefront of my mind and allow me the opportunity think about best practices and reflect on how I am addressing them.

Beth Workman, VT

The Childcare Tennessee platform gives me resources for every aspect. Whenever I’m feeling burned out or stagnant, I’m able to refer back to the platform and find new and exact ways to keep my students, family and staff engaged.

Lakeya Johnson, TN

The resources on KY Shared Services have helped our efforts in strengthening the workforce through the jobs platform and hiring tools, as well as helped our efforts to guide providers in working with families through difficult times. The robust tools in parent communication, child development, and challenging behaviors give providers the resources they need to speak with families in those difficult conversations.

How do I retain staff in an environment where there are so many higher paying options?

The Workplace Culture Toolkit.

Today’s workforce is looking for a workplace culture that aligns with their core beliefs and provides a supportive and rewarding work environment. The Workplace Culture Toolkit is a powerful set of resources to help you create the work environment of your dreams and allows staff to be an integral voice in developing program culture. An easy-to-use staff survey will help you gather information from staff about their impressions of working in your program and the guide to analyze your survey results will help you develop a powerful strategy to address your unique workplace needs, musts, and desires.

The workplace culture resources were especially important because not only do they elevate professionalism, but they also featured many low or no-cost ideas for providers to implement.

How can I expand my outreach efforts to find more potential staff?

Acquire4Hire.

Finding qualified staff is challenging but with our Acquire4Hire platform, programs experience expansive reach to qualified applicants across 15+ job boards including Google, Indeed, Zip Recruiter, etc. Programs can reference over 1,000 editable job description templates, post jobs for free and manage applicant responses all in one place. A unique, customizable workflow tool helps programs stay consistent with hiring procedures and editable automated emails can be triggered as you move a candidate throughout the hiring process.

The Shared Services VT platform is vital to my success as a director. The last few hires for my center were found through EC Jobs VT, so I am incredibly grateful to be able to post free job listings on this site.

Beth Workman, VT

Acquire4Hire is widely used and has saved so much funding for programs who were previously paying for job advertising.

Christiane Casserly, NH

Acquire4Hire has proved to be a strong support for programs who are desperately looking for reliable staff members.
