MEET GARRETT By the world’s standards, Garrett had it all. At 34, he was leading a thriving electrical contracting business in Lincoln, Nebraska. With three young boys, his family life was good. Growing up, Garrett went to church regularly and was even baptized as a teenager. But something was missing. Garrett felt a deep void that worldly successes could not satisfy. At this point, he was trying to live spiritually by following rules and he knew there had to be something more to life.
A DIVINE ENCOUNTER In 2015, Garrett met Dean, a CBMC Area Director. Later, Garrett confesses that he never really understood or fully accepted his faith until his encounter with a man from CBMC. Through Operation Timothy and his relationship with Dean, Garrett accepted Christ. THE POWER OF CONNECTION “Dean was always interested in me, willing to listen, and available to help me to understand how to address anything I needed help with. He had already ‘been there, done that’ with many of the things I was going through.” Garrett describes his experience of Operation Timothy, “It was a deep dive into knowing and understanding Jesus. It helped to develop me in serving others and gave me a desire to walk with other men and give them the same experience that I had with Dean.” TRANSFORMED BY THE GOSPEL Fast forward 3 years and Garrett is invited to participate in a CBMC Trusted Advisor Forum. Garrett explains the transformation that took place as a result. “I became grounded in my faith. I became a better husband, father, friend, and employer. It’s hard to imagine running my business without that support.” Not long after, Garrett is asked to become a CBMC Trusted Advisor Forums facilitator. “We have guys who are going through the same season of life and older guys as well; we can draw from their experience. I know the advice I get is coming from Christians who offer biblically accurate advice.”
GARRETT’S TEAM GLORIFYING GOD Participation in the Trusted Advisor Forum taught Garrett much more than business methodology, he points out. “One of the things I have learned is that it’s not my business – it’s God’s business. I’ve been gifted the responsibility for stewardship of the company.” Garrett says the relationships he has formed are priceless. “In CBMC we like to say your network is your net worth. One of the things that has really changed my business is improving my leadership skill set, which has been sharpened and developed by people in CBMC. He now sees it as “an asset to carrying out the Great Commission. How we run our businesses is a way of bringing people to Christ – not only employees, but also all of the people we serve. They are drawn to Him when they see the difference in the way we conduct business.” “My wife has seen a radical change in me. I’m a completely different person from what I was six years ago.” PASSING IT ON Because of the impact of CBMC, Garrett has recently begun taking one of his younger brothers through Operation Timothy.
