Nicole Carter ’02 and Brendan Latimer ’04 were married on October 11, 2013. The couple own a home together in Sacramento. Brendan works as a solar consultant at Paramount Solar and Nicole is a kindergarten teacher in Sacramento.
Tim McGann ’02 has returned to his alma mater, Christian Brothers High School, where he works in the business office managing accounts payable and working with the director of finance on a number of projects. He continues in his role as men’s junior varsity basketball coach and enjoys preparing players to compete at the varsity level.
Eric Tozer ’02 ran from San Diego, California to New York City as part of Run Across America. Tozer, along with the nine other type 1 diabetics on Team Type 1, made the run in a phenomenal 15 days. Tozer, who took turns running with the other members of the team, averaged 23 miles per day and ended the journey having logged more than 320 miles. Endurance running was new to him at the time of the run as he had only completed his first marathon several months prior to the race. Living the CB motto of Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve, Tozer volunteers his time on the weekends and evenings working with various Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and American Diabetes Association chapters across the country to help inspire, educate, teach and motivate kids, families, health care professionals and anyone else affected by diabetes. Apartment hunting in New York City is legendary in its challenges. Fortunately, a CB Connection helped Michael Koppes ’03 when the realtor noticed the 916 area code on Koppes’s application. It turned out that the realtor is a CB Class of 1977 graduate and Koppes beat out two other prospective tenants for the unit.
Mary McVeigh ’03 recently left her job as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon to attend graduate school at UC Berkeley. McVeigh will be earning a master’s degree in public policy. One of her favorite moments at the Pentagon actually occurred when she was receiving an award from then Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta. Mary snuck in a dog treat for Bravo, the Secretary’s dog, and the event became an unexpected photo-op for the group. Christian Brothers Connection - Alumni News & Notes
