Our Stars Singapore. As recipients of the award, they participated in a 21-day Classic Challenge Course and completed activities in sailing, kayaking, hiking and an individual survival experience in addition to planning and executing a service learning project. 10 Through it all, they had an experience of a lifetime, honing their leadership potential and broadening their community perspectives. Ming Soon and Shaun will take the lead in carrying out service learning projects in the wider community as graduates of this programme.

Bui Bich Phuong (Jane), Jerome Thong and Lucian Wee from 2T34 are the first from CJC to receive the South East Community Development Council (CDC) Youth Community Leadership Awards. It was for their contributions in Project 4650, a project serving the interim rental housing residents in Bedok. These three students rallied the class in organising activities for the children in this rental housing project and involved themselves in the Homework CafĂŠ over a period of half a year. The members of the Interact Club clinched the Gold Award for Best Interact Club Project from the Rotary Club for their project in collaboration with Sustainable Cambodia to build bio-filters for the villagers in Cambodia. The Interact Club was formed in CJC in 1975 and for forty years it has been actively involved in various community projects both locally and overseas. Sporting Excellence Marc Koh Liang Kang (1T19) received the Individual National Colours Distinction Award for his outstanding achievements in Gymnastics (Artistic). Gymnastics was introduced as a CCA in CJC in 1999 and our gymnasts have consistently done well at the national level.

The teams that won Colours Awards this year were our Boys and Girls in Fencing and Judo and our Boys for Tenpin Bowling. Individual Colours Awards were received by Pon Swee Man (2T02) and Josiah Tan Jia Ern (1T18) for Gymnastics and Au Yee Sin (2T01) for Track and Field.

Our Scholars This year ten of our alumni attained the MOE Teaching Scholarship and MOE Teaching Award. They are Ershen Kaur Langeana, Charlotte Ho Yimei, Jaime Ch’ng Mei Xin, Jessica Tan Jia Hui, Yvonne Kok Jia En, Shannon Lim Shi En, Fiona Ng Shu Hua, Sulaiman Azim Bin Mohd Daud, Zenda Tan Wei Jia and Denzel Low Hao Jie. Another group of our alumni were awarded the Healthcare Merit Scholarship and the Healthcare Merit Award. From the class of 2014 the Merit Award recipients were Yeo Shao Jie, Mavis Tan Wei Ting, Vivian Siew Wen Xin and Maria Chuah Pui Leng. Samuel Tan (class of 2012) and Daniel Ng Zhi Wei (class of 2013) received the Healthcare Merit Scholarship. Ian Lim Zheng Jie (class of 2010) received the Healthcare Merit Award. In addition, Sie Xiang Yi, Jefferson (2 T10) received the Singapore-Industry Scholarship. PAGE 8
