In CJC, the National Day celebrations began with an observance ceremony led by the various uniformed groups. Witnessing the march-in parade formed up with absolute precision, feelings of patriotism were aroused as the National Anthem was sung in unison. After assembly, the college gathered into their Houses, all set to leave for the three kilometre walkathon – the highlight of this year’s celebrations. As part of the fundraising project with Food From The Heart, the walkathon was held to raise money by collecting donations and pledges for walking a predetermined distance of three kilometres, together as one CJC community. Stretching all the way to Barker Road, the walk gave students an opportunity to discover some of the distinct landmarks located near our home ground. From the playground which was highly talked about to the park located along Malcolm Road, CJC is not just a school located along an expressway, but a school surrounded by beautiful places we never knew existed.

The final event of the day was the unveiling of the large scale chromatography project. The college had collaborated with the Science Centre to carry out this successful project, which was also helmed by the college’s Science Leaders. This artwork was intended for entry into the Singapore Book of Records for the “Largest Singapore Map Made Out Of Chromatography Paper”. Designed in the shape of the Singapore island, the vibrant colours on the chromatography pieces represented the trees, the flowers and the beauty of our garden city, Singapore.
