JC1 Orientation Concordia: Unity in Strength 30 January – 4 February fter an entire week of dancing to ‘Chori Chori’, racing around the iconic Gardens by the Bay and making a splash on the CJ field hand in hand, it came as no surprise that strangers easily became friends by the end of the JC1 Orientation.

When the new JC1 students arrived in CJC for the first time, they were warmly received by the energetic Orientation Group Leaders (OGLs). The day started off with the OGLs performing their self-choreographed CJC orientation dance, which was an excellent way for the JC1s to kick-start life in CJC. The JC1s were then housed into four groups: Aquaria, Gusta, Terraria and Incendia. Named after elements that would form the basis of a new world, the OGLs embarked on a mission to bring the cohort together as one. The day ended with a preview of a skit to be performed by various OGLs the following week. During the week, the JC1s also experienced ‘Circle Time’, which is a key part of our college’s Student Development Programme. It was a great opportunity for each and every voice to be heard during these sessions. The ‘Amazing Race’ in Gardens by the Bay gave the JC1s the opportunity to take charge and find their way around the various ‘pit stops’ for the station games. Alumni volunteers helmed the ‘pit stops’ and in true CJ spirit, led the games with enthusiasm and care for every single one of the juniors. The day ended with a mass picnic where food and good conversations brought the JC1s even closer together.

On the last day, the JC1s made a splash on the school field as they participated wholeheartedly in the water games. There were plenty of JC2s who cheered them on from the grandstand. The final instalment of the skit by the OGLs brought all the houses together as one, 7 as cheers and laughter rocked the auditorium. It was clear then, that the JC1s and JC2s had become one family with one heart and spirit.
