Editorial Sia Home Fashion, the new way to beautify the home The house is fashionable and fashion has taken up residence in the house. These two worlds now share the same codes and buzzwords. Season after season, SIA beautifies the home according to our heart’s desire. Our interior décor is transformed in tune with our tastes. Each month, SIA's designers tap that vein to create the unique décor that’s so much part of us. Styles and periods are all the rage today. The intermingling of genres affects every decorative style. Classical or Modern? Baroque or Minimalist? Dilemmas about the Total Look or the rigid style are over and done with. Imagination is what counts now. Ultra-modernism and classicism make good bedfellows. The shift is a great way to break the codes of déjà vu and invent a new elegance. Like the way we dress, a simple accessory tells an original story and changes the whole atmosphere at home at barely any cost. To help you find the right style, SIA deciphers the ‘dress code’ trends of the home. Decoration becomes a game and a pleasure for everyone. In the quest for our own décor, feelings guide the way. With an art of living dedicated to the taste for beautiful things and powerful moments, SIA guides you into a serene and elegant world. Here are the keys to a home where imagination reigns supreme, bringing enchantment into our daily lives.

Primavera

Your home décor is gently transformed. Let’s welcome the spring and the return of fine days. After the long winter months, the home changes appearance and pace. The first sunny days give us an irresistible urge for a makeover. Embrace the Flower, the perennial symbol of Spring’s rebirth and abundance. Floral bouquets become our best allies in matching the décor to a season, favouring simple forms and delicate pastel shades. In this imaginary garden, respect the reassuring rhythm of the seasons. In spring, a beautiful daily vision mixes great armfuls of softly shaded tulips, light mimosa and elegant magnolias. These are generously punctuated with graceful Forget-Me-Nots and white Viburnums. The blue-green leaves of young eucalyptus add a subtle note. Arrange them naturally in a handmade pot to evoke a Provencal atmosphere. Let your imagination run riot and devise an inner garden in delicate colours. All you need are nobility of soul and free emotions. Here’s a tip: To create bouquets that will make your guests go green with envy, have fun by mixing artificial and fresh flowers. The effect will be stunning.

In praise of simplicity

Bouquets make a beautiful and simple décor.

The season will be simple without being minimalist. Make way for soft colours. The range of pastel pinks or tender blues is subtle but not sentimental. The result? A combination of studied simplicity and unaffected sophistication. You need only a few flowers to design a unique table runner. On the window ledge, a tuft of cut flowers turns your home into a place for renewed energy. These creative effects are an integral part of SIA's history. In her Swedish Lustgärden*, Founder Sonja Ingegerd Andersson loved to design paper flowers and floral prints. SIA has built on Sonja’s know-how to develop the art and method of recreating natural beauty. Each flower, inspired by Nature, composed of a multitude of small parts, is painted by hand and carefully assembled. Precious creations that deserve close attention. 5 6

Here’s a tip: Make different uses of containers. An elegant crystal glass will draw attention to beautiful wild flowers. Really smart. *Garden of Temptations

Hanami in your home Spring with a Japanese touch After the cold winter weather, all Japan celebrates the Rite of Spring. The Land of the Rising Sun makes a true religion of blossoming cherry trees. The flower of the cherry tree, called "sakura" in Japanese, symbolises transient beauty because it lasts just one week. The Hanami celebrations pay homage to this magical moment that has inspired painters and poets for centuries. From the North to the South of the Archipelago, the Japanese attentively follow the bulletins announcing the opening of the first buds. The flowering wave starts in the southern isle of Okinawa, then reaches Tokyo and ends in the North, at Hokkaido. In parks and around temples, the Japanese hold picnics under the cherry trees, delighting in a rain of white and pink petals. The new line of Hanami tableware, replicating these dainty flower patterns in fine bone china, allows you to recreate these poetic moments from the country of geisha girls and amurai warriors, in your own way. Here’s a tip: Scatter a few cherry blossoms on a tablecloth or as a welcoming dÊcor in a guest room.

A Zen-like inspiration with touches of azure and white Initiate yourself in the rules of Neo-Zen. In today’s overcharged times, we need to reclaim our inner peace more than ever. By its very nature the home is the ideal place for finding this serenity. This is what a calming décor can achieve. The décor tints the world in fresh and relaxing blue and white, telling us to slow down and let go. Light and airy colours make the room larger and brighten our perspectives. Imagine an isolated world where time has stood still. The charm springs from the meeting of Eastern and Western cultures. The

effects of white lacquer bring the classical and exotic references together in perfect harmony. Baroque items, like the mirror or the vase, blend wonderfully with the Asian wardrobe and chair. In delicate azure blue, the fabrics inspired by kimonos add a touch of precious sophistication. The old barn is transformed into an elegant haven of peace. Pure and simple. Here’s a tip: By following the seasons and fashions, the colour accessories can totally change the atmosphere and style of a room that’s been painted white.

Lacquered white reinterprets the classical style. How to inject some life into an ordinary room? Dare to bring back antiques. Under pure white lacquer, objects of the past such as this Rococo bust or classic Medici vases take on a new vitality. This odd facelift doesn’t hesitate to cross the lines of Greco-Roman perfection, combining Baroque opulence with purified minimalism. Pure white creates a harmonising unity of tone. You can imagine the atmosphere of life in a country mansion or an aristocratic residence. By playing with this historic shift, you give the decor a sense of theatre, a new grace and distinction. Here’s a tip: A necklace of flowers on a bust adds an amusingly discordant note in a space unified by white lacquer. 12

The cala lily, a natural elegance. Nothing escapes the trends that move things in and out of fashion. As surprising as this may seem, the plant world also has its fashions and its moods. When it comes to super-trendy flowers, the cala lily, like the orchid, is the height of sophistication in floral art. With its sleek lines and graphic contrast of milky white and tender green, the arum is undoubtedly the most exquisite and timeless of flowers. Both pure and sensual, this designer’s flower has a totally natural wild allure under its sober looks. Here’s a tip : Create a veritable floral sculpture based on the symmetries of twin vases linked by a simple agave leaf. Great style!

neutrals & naturals

Nothing can beat neutral colours for relaxation. Fashion and beauty swear only by nude beauty an extreme naturalness that’s far more sophisticated than it seems.

1

2

In the home, ethereal luxury combines the softness of chalk whites, beiges and off-whites. Add shades of moleskin, brown and grey. These neutral and natural colours allow for the telescoping of styles. In a period cluttered by the one-upmanship of multiple colours, you’ll adore this feeling of calm and muted luminosity that makes the home an enchanted interlude. This very trendy range of colours allows you to become an alchemist when mixing styles. Freely combine references to modernism and classic notes to achieve a classy urban décor. Take risks with contrasts: the graphic reflections of mirror and metal; the matt and shiny effects of accessories and fabrics; raw and precious materials; the geometrical lines and the soft curves of a Bergère armchair for voluptuous afternoon naps. Everything in perfect balance. Faultless harmony.

3

4

5

Here’s a tip: In a small room, the presence of a large mirror with geometrical lines lends an elegant sensation of space and light.

Life’s a party We were too quick to relegate to the décor dungeons

this successor to the huge farm tables of old. The large table for gatherings of family and friends is making a notable comeback in contemporary interiors. Symbol of an age, it seeks festive vibes when everyone dreams of living more intensely. In an uncluttered décor, the table once again claims its rightful place as the unifying element in the home. Around it we celebrate the simple pleasure of being together and sharing true moments of fun, full of good things and sparkling laughter. And since any excuse will do to throw a party, the home is once again a place of joy and carefree get-togethers. New merrymaking is not burdened with social convention. To create a warm and modern décor,

the festive staging mixes styles and materials. 1

Bring unvarnished woods together with richly worked woods, bargain finds with valuable items, basic glass with sublime cut glass crystal. That’s how the terrific charm of recreated banquets comes about. The common link? Natural linens and a generous profusion of elegant roses gracefully harmonise this joyous effervescence.

2

Here’s a tip: Place chairs of different styles around a very contemporary table. Do you find the juxtaposition daring? It will work if you respect the unity of neutral colours that enables flights of fancy.

Surprise Parties

How to throw them: Any excuse is good for a party. Weddings, birthdays but also coming of age, housewarmings, bachelor or theme parties...

1

There are plenty of opportunities for holding happy gatherings. Even on the spur of the moment, a party can be organised so that everyone has fun, including you. To facilitate communication between your guests, prepare nametags. If seating people proves difficult, leave it to chance- drawing lots can produce amusing surprises. A sophisticated and appreciated gesture? Try a gift for each guest, like this simple fig placed on a linen napkin. Improvise extravagant bouquets that give the home a festive atmosphere. Prepare your musical play list by mixing genres, devise ideas for games to guarantee giggles. Time for a toast in a sublime crystal glass!

The taste of happiness Trends in kitchen décor Once merely a functional space, the kitchen has now become the beating heart of the household. Friendly and relaxed, this warm place opens onto other rooms and the outside. A carefully planned décor coordinates the kitchen with the entire house. On the walls, a soothing monochrome of muted greys gives an impression of space and well-being.

` Don’t be afraid to mixstyles, it’ssotrendy!

Why not combine the uncluttered lines of a wooden table with some stylish chairs? Bring together the industrial atmosphere of brick and unvarnished wood, rich paintings and the lustre of polished metal. This is the way to give your kitchen rhythm and style. Lighten up everything with delicately rounded white tableware. On the working surfaces, everyday objects appear in a cleverly arranged disorder. But anything that’s not aesthetic belongs in the cupboard. Add a profusion of white flowers and aromatic herbs... and you’ll have set the tone. Here’s a tip: Sharpen your skills in the art of subverting objects to customise your décor. A vase or a pot-holder becomes a cutlery container - so much more artistic!

The art of gentleness

Poetic ambience at the table

The art of the table suits our craving for unforgettable emotions. It takes very little to bring enchantment back into our daily lives. Handmade dishes in uneven shapes reveal the touch of a human hand. A collection of succulent plants adds a green and unusual note. The light of a beautiful candle that warms up a harmony of beige linen, white china and silvery metal... And there you go, the table’s a delightful place. 24

Lazing under an open sky, the art of entertaining in the garden.

City types who yearn for a breath of nature treasure their terraces and balconies. Even the tiniest green corner is given lavish decorative attention. It’s treated with as much style as the rest of the home, and according to the same rules. Why? To make it a place to relax and unwind under the open sky. A play area for the children, a place of relaxation for the adults, a space for entertaining... The new recreational and relaxation area adopts the rules of an outdoor lounge. The indoor-outdoor trend is a must. In this ‘summer sitting room’ where cane makes a notable comeback, you entertain very simply around a low table. On beautiful summer evenings, candles, lamps and decorative globes sit in on fascinating conversations.

Seductive decorative objects bring the beach into your home. 1

Bringing great tranquillity to summer evenings,

interior décor goes to the beach. You can invent really astonishing moments inspired by treasures found on the beach. Bring the ultra-natural colours of sun soaked shores into the house. Pearly white, the colours of sand and wood bleached by the tides, the mineral shades of pebbles and seashells... intimate dinners will be worth their salt in this maritime décor. Even the white bouquets have a marine flavour when nestled in baroque-type conch shells - an ultra-modern allusion to the Rococo style of Louis XV. Here’s a tip: Write the initials of your guests on pebbles. Practical and original place settings that will mark the sea-inspired parties with a white stone.

Black contrast Design in

black and white In the elegance stakes, black wins with glamour. Ever since Coco Chanel's fashion revolution and her famous ‘little black dress’, black has been the preferred colour of elegance. And now it’s moved into home interiors. When it comes to style, the graphic force of black and white gives a loft-look chic to an urban space. With its pseudo-classical air, this major tone inspires imaginative mixes: a comfortable Chesterfield couch; an Egyptian statuette; elegant flowers and bonsai; the interplay between glass, metal and leather to soften a very classy severity. Here’s a tip: Collect candles of different sizes in an oversize lantern to warm up a rarefied atmosphere.

Indian Escapade New uses for Indian antiques give them a second life. Year-round, SIA's international team of designers scour the planet looking for inspiration and rare objects. Their astonishing finds enrich SIA'S multiple collections. This season, these treasure seekers stopped off in India, where they fell under the charm of artisan know-how. From Bombay to Calcutta, they found astonishing materials. Railroad sleepers, printing plates for fabrics, grain seeders...

A very sophisticated recycling spirit transforms

these authentic industrial antiques, sometimes nearly a century old, into elegant decorative objects. Mounted on a metallic structure, these noble and modest objects start living again. As if by magic, the ancient raw materials of these recycled objects have found new purpose and become valuable sculptures. An elegant and soulful addition, blending authenticity and rarity, brings allure into ultramodern decors.

Breaking the ice,

the hallway takes on a quiet chic. Don’t forget that first impressions last. The hallway deserves meticulous care and should harmonise with the rest of the dÊcor, without upsetting the style. The goal? To make a strong first impression: creating an elegant sobriety right from the doorway in. A fresh and uncluttered interior design instils the sense of calm that characterises the spring-summer collection. On a totally black sideboard evoking the distant Orient, the carved candles stand proud like sculptures. Reflected in a grand oval mirror, the minimalist presence of bouquets underlines a sense of lightness. The timeless charm of white cala lilies blends perfectly with the elegant grace of the birds of paradise, giving this black and white style a captivating chic. Here’s a tip: Place your large vases on columns as in a modern art gallery. What style!

Thrilling Black

The table is obsessed with black and grey.

Black, the cult colour of fashion and decoration, comes to the table. When it blends with shades of grey, black has what it takes to please the new style-enthusiasts. On a unified white background, it goes wonderfully within a harmony of greys. Tones of slate and smoke give fine tables an urban chic. You might think the strict colour code of the dishes and textile accessories would impose a puritan starkness. Not in the least. The napkins, striped in grey and black with the soothing monochrome of a musical score, give the plates a mellow rhythm. The green plants refresh this simple sobriety, while the transparency of the glassware adds a hint of lightness. Nature and refinement work in tandem to heighten table pleasures. Here’s a tip: Tie a simple green leaf around the cutlery using natural string, to give the table a supremely sophisticated look. A touch of chlorophyll in an urban cosmos.

Black garden Symbol of elegance and sophistication, black is gaining ground and moving to greener pastures. This summer, the garden shifts to modern times and dons black for ultra-sophisticated evening receptions. The graphic intensity of the black background sets off the lush greenness. This elegant austerity blends with nature, while totally deferring to the plant environment. Take a cue from the sharpest landscapers who overwhelmingly vote for this subtle alchemy. For a break in the cool of evening, a generous scattering of mugs embossed with a romantic motif in black and white lends an ultra-modern feeling. Once night falls, light plenty of lanterns and candles. The result: a unique garden whose arty atmosphere will astonish. Here’s a tip: Nested in very large pots of different sizes, boxwood balls look like plant sculptures.

SUMMER

WIND

A breath of fresh air wafts over the décor. In the summer heat,

decoration

gets an airing. Summer dresses up in blues to stimulate that indulgent calm feeling we love so much. Sky blue, lagoon turquoise, sea blue and ultramarine resonate with charm and poetry. When this blue magic unites with the purity of white, it creates a true colour therapy that gives an immediate feeling of well-being. How irresistible this subtle combination is, evoking holiday time and the ambience of seaside resorts when a gentle breeze stirs the organdi curtains. Touches of vibrant colours and exotic notes energise this beautiful harmony. Our preferences? Embroidered silk cushions and amusing figurines that recall the elegance of a dreamt-of Asia. Choose glass vases with colours of the sea. The dazzling bouquets of hibiscus, bougainvillea and bleeding hearts as well as large potted fuchsia orchids bring the décor to perfection. It’s like a summer’s day-dream where East and West blend in beauty.

A chic and exotic inspiration turns the summer wild. Boarding now for the Tropics: an exotic inspiration brightens up table decor. Tropical nature comes to dinner, turning the table into a verdant islet. In the luxuriance of this magical garden, you relish a cocktail of intense colours where lagoon blues and dense greens refresh the décor. The sensual exuberance of orchids and hibiscus evoke the enchanting spell of a lost paradise. Like sunsets on southern seas, the glows of mango and crimson add spice to an explosion of powerful sensations. Monstera deliciosa leaves become placemats, and tableware imitates nature. The party’s going to be ‘caliente'. Here’s a tip: Surprise your guests by taking exoticism all the way to the dining room table with a wealth of delicacies and tropical fruits.

Beneath cool greenery and off the beaten track, a succulent lunch on the grass is being enjoyed. Whimsy is on the menu of countrified delights. As you wolf down the last of the summer strawberries, the good mood takes on an English countryside flavour. An abundance of flowery impressions with a neo-vintage charm shares space with a rainbow of stripes. Ultra-energized fruity hues, like bright pink and turquoise blue, give your day in the country a happy, quirky romanticism.
