A RETAIL EXPERIENCE Retail Design + Branding | 3 Weeks 5,000 sq ft | Spring 2016 The concept for the retail experience will be influenced by defragmentation. In the maintenance of file systems, defragmentation is a process that reduces the amount of “clutter”. The concept of defragmentation will be demonstrated physically through linear forms throughout the space. Crisp lines and an open floor plan with clear sight lines will reinforce the removal of “clutter” in order to optimize the retail experience. The use of an app that allows the consumer to pay on their mobile phone as opposed to waiting in line at the cash register will support the concept of defragmentation. Technology has become normal to interact with on a daily basis and SURGE uses it to its advantage. Through the app SURGE allows customers to locate a store and check the current food menu all while paying directly from their phones. Users can set preferences such as “The Usual” and using a one click order system, their food and beverages will be prepared and ready to pick up before they arrive. This creates a personal experience for every individual that utilizes SURGE’S app and its amenities.
