As life slowly returns to normal homeowners and those who run commercial premises are taking a closer look at bathroom facilities. The Government advice on visitors using the bathroom in someone else’s home and general worry about the cleanliness of commercial facilities has opened opportunities for installers to either completely change or simply improve existing bathrooms and cloakrooms.

In the home, an extra toilet that will only be used by visiting friends and family is the ideal solution. A compact wall hung design and reduced depth cloakroom basin can be tucked into a surprisingly small space such as the area under the stairs. Where there is already a separate wc, space for another can be made by moving the existing model into the bathroom. Much depends on the location of the soil stack – but if it is too far away a smallbore macerator will solve the problem.

Wall hung makes sense, especially in the typically small UK bathroom. The fittings hang free of the floor, giving an illusion of space and a wall hung WC occupies less space than a conventional low-level pan. Cleaning is easy – most wall hung pans are a clean simple shape with no nooks, crannies or visible pipework for dust and dirt to linger. Mopping the floor is quick and easy when there are no obstacles to clean round. The cistern is hidden away inside the frame with just a sleek flush plate visible which can be no touch for the ultimate in hygiene. Concealed behind either a solid or a stud wall, VitrA’s frame systems are quick and easy to install and maintenance is simple as the flush plate can be removed giving access to internal fittings.
