Sigrid Toye’s volunteer activities include mentoring the ‘Breakwater Flag Project’, an array of 27 flags representing Santa Barbara’s major non-profits, a community program co-sponsored by the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and the Waterfront Department. She is currently on the board of directors of the Maritime Museum and participates in Yacht Club activities. Sigrid is a long time practitioner of educational/behavior therapy and holds a Ph.D in clinical psychology. The exhibition’s title was inspired by Charles Garabedian’s etching that depicts the gentle hand of the artist touching the viewer’s consciousness, planting the seed of a journey. “We liked the idea that art has the potential to open us up to discovery,” Joyce explained.
